The 2023 LEGO House exclusive is a giant Classic Pirates Captain Redbeard minifigure!

February 27, 2023 By Jay Ong 5 Comments

The LEGO House has officially unveiled 40504 A Minifigure Tribute, the 4th numbered LEGO House exclusive featuring a giant brick-built figure of Captain Redbeard, the swashbuckling captain of the Black Seas Barracuda!

This year’s LEGO House exclusive is all about the LEGO minifigure, and Captain Redbeard was selected for this very honour.

40504 A Minifigure Tribute will be available exclusively at The LEGO House store from 1 March 2023 onwards, and yes, that means that you’ll need to travel all the way to Billund, Denmark to pick one up, or order one off eBay or Bricklink.

It will retail for 599 DKK (approx US$85 / AU$126) and is built off the template begun by 76393 Harry Potter and Hermione Granger Buildable Minifigures.

There’s something intrinsically special about Classic LEGO Pirates and most of all Captain Redbeard, who captained the legendary 6285 Black Seas Barracuda from 1989.

Originally created by LEGO design legend Niels Milan Pedersen, who also lent his expertise to the design, this buildable LEGO minifigure’s concept was designed by LEGO House Master Builder Stuart Harris, and completed by Markus Rollbühler.

It’s the 4th numbered LEGO House exclusive, and will join 40501 The Wooden Duck, 40502 The Brick Moulding Machine (retired), and 40503 Dagny Holm Master Builder.

Selected LEGO fan media received a preview of the set, and also got to learn about the development from Stuart Harris, Markus and even Niels Milan Pedersen made an appearance.

I’ll share more learnings when I receive my review copy and publish my review.

As a big Pirates fan, I absolutely cannot wait!

Personally, I think apart from The Wooden Duck, this is one of the best LEGO House exclusives yet, and many LEGO Pirates fans will eagerly want to get their hands on it!

If Denmark is understandably hard to travel to… you can always look to pick one up on Bricklink or eBay, where hopefully, it won’t cost a Pirate’s treasure-worth.

Seeing people reselling these for 200+ is one of the reasons why I stopped hanging around Lego communities. I always hung around people who shared a common interest in Lego but lately there’s been more people trying to make a buck off of everyone rather than actual fans.

LEGO sets out positivity with its no more regional exclusives, and then does this? The demand for this thing is going to be crazy, yet less than 5% of LEGO fans are going to be able to access it without resellers/scalpers…..

These sets were considered as “event sets”, so they have been excluded ever since the original announcement.

    This set looks amazing!
Awesome that Lego is finally making another megafigure like the Harry Potter ones. Hopefully they make more.

I really wish it was a widely released set. I understand that Lego house sets are usually exclusive to the Lego house, but those sets are mostly based on the Lego house or the attractions inside. This set and duck set should be widely available since they are a part of the general LEGO history.

Did you know that Fiona, the @lego Friends florist Did you know that Fiona, the @lego Friends florist is one of the first minidolls depicted with Down Syndrome?

Fiona works at the flower stall on Unity Street from 41732 Friends Downtown Flower and Design Stores

She is described as being 'good at crafts and decorating, and knows all the flower species by name.'

It's World Down Syndrome Day today and I think it's remarkable and very important for LEGO to enhance the perspectives of children on neurodiversity, physical disabilities, ethnicity and mental health, as they've done with the LEGO Friends reboot.

Here's my review of one of the most anticipate @LE Here's my review of one of the most anticipate @LEGO Disney sets - 43217 'Up' House ahead of its release on 1 April 2023!

This set is a dream come true for many Pixar fans, and we finally get a cute, compact and great looking Up House.

It has plenty of references to the movie, and Carl's everlasting love of Ellie, his late-wife which will absolutely delight fans.

Despite a strong lineup of minifigures (including an awesome Dug mould), the set's incredibly expensive pricetag (US$59.99/AU$89.99) doesn't feel like good value, especially with Kevin nowhere to be found.

Here's a look at 40587 Easter Basket, an incredibl Here's a look at 40587 Easter Basket, an incredibly affordable and attainable GWP that's available from 16 March!

It will be a GWP when you spend US$70 / €70 / £65 from 16 March - 9 April.

Lots of things to like here, as the design is cute, and the build is surprisingly technical, and it blends both Botanical and Animal construction.

Also like that the redemption period stretches into April, so if you have the Indiana Jones, Disney 100, or Guardians of the Galaxy sets on your radar, it should be an easy one to qualify for!

Such a breath of fresh air to get such a substantial GWP without having to spend hundreds of dollars. More like this please, LEGO!
