These 35 LEGO Ideas projects are now under review to potentially become a future LEGO set!

January 5, 2023 By Jay Ong 31 Comments

The LEGO Ideas team has announced that the Third 2022 LEGO Review has closed, and these 35 LEGO Ideas submissions which achieved 10,000 votes will go into consideration to potentially be turned into a future LEGO set(s).

35 isn’t as many as some of the earlier rounds, but it still has quite a varied list of hopefuls vying for the chance for their concept and design to be turned into a future LEGO Ideas set.

There has been an interesting development, as originally when the LEGO Ideas team announced this, they initially had 36 product ideas that had made the cut, but THE NEVERENDING STORY (40TH ANNIVERSARY) by FACEBRICKUP was removed following a copyright takedown request from the license holder.

Awkward, but their loss!

The results for this round will be announced in Summer 2023 (Northern Hemisphere), so it’ll be a few more months till we find out. That said, we should receive news from the Second 2022 LEGO Review Round (which had a whopping 51 Ideas) soon, as we were promised results in early 2023.

This seems like a solid round, and my picks for this round would be PAC-MAN MOVING DISPLAY, COMMUNITY and JAWS!

Which LEGO Ideas submissions from this batch would you like to get through?

Check out all 35 successful project submissions below!

Thunderbirds (because I’m old enough to remember the original series), cipher machine and Sariel’s flip clock would be the few I would purchase. Lots of other clever builds but too many buildings – Originality of ideas is what I prefer.

I’ll be first on line to buy the (30) Alpine Refuge. That one is gorgeous. It looks a bit like the Winter Chalet from the Bricklink program, but it’s gorgeous and I can’t have enough of these houses in my real house; growing up in Northern Europe with these being common good there.
It just makes me smile from ear to ear, and all warm and fuzzy on the inside. Awesome job !!!

JWST might get through based on previous Ideas being accepted (ISS, Saturn V, Space Shuttle). Cipher Machine and Mechanical Flip Clock could be interesting, especially if they work (the latter could be powered?).

It’s hard to gauge where this one might go, but it seems like buildings and cutaways historically don’t fare well. Seems more likely models will get through.

As far as I have understood, although “This is fine” is based on a meme, the actual copyright and license is owned by the cartoonist, so it might be removed, too, if the cartoonist would bother to issue a complaint.

Yeah, it will ultimately depend if LEGO sees commercial potential in a meme (novel idea), but it shouldn’t be too hard to negotiate a licensing deal ewith the artist.

Today is the 15th and final day of the Lunar New Y Today is the 15th and final day of the Lunar New Year, also known as Chap Goh Mei (15th night in the Hokkien dialect), Yuan Xiao Jie, Chinese Valentine's Day or the Lantern Festival! 🏮

It marks the end of the Lunar New Year celebrations, and is celebrated in a myriad of ways, such as eating tangyuan (glutinous rice balls) over dinner, and visiting temples to pray good fortune for the coming year.

The celebration was famously depicted in 80107 Spring Lantern Festival, designed by @justinramsden and released in 2020.

Here's my Classic Space take on Chap Goh Mei as we conclude the Lunar New Year festivities!

Happy Chap Goh Mei to everyone celebrating!

Mia is all grown up now! Here's a comparison of Mia is all grown up now!

Here's a comparison of Mia, from her very first minidoll on the left (from 3188 Heartlake Vet), to her last appearance as a teenager in 41717 Mia's Wildlife Rescue, and on the right, as an adult in 41730 Autumn's House!

She's now a mum to Autumn, and it's kinda surreal seeing her grow like this.

FYI: LEGO Friends had a bit of a redesign in 2018, which is why Mia's appearance changed slightly.

For my next @LEGO Friends review, here's a look at For my next @LEGO Friends review, here's a look at 41730 Autumn's House, which features Autumn and Mia's home, a delightfully rustic ranch-style home!

It blends the old and new, with Autumn and a now grown-up Mia, and amazingly, has kept the same US$69.99 price-point as all the other Friends main character houses.

Who knew that Friends character homes were inflation-proof?

Great value-packed set overall, and you can read my full review on the blog via link in bio!
