Tribute To Galileo Galilei will be your next LEGO Ideas gift with purchase (GWP)

Following the Ready, Set, Go Stem fan vote, the LEGO Ideas team have announced that Tribute to Galileo Galilei by FIRECRACKER_ has won the fan vote, taking first place with 1,432 votes!

The design will then be adapted into an official LEGO Ideas gift with purchase (GWP) set, and will now go into production. Give it about a year-ish, and you should expect this set to be available.

I think it’s a decent model, if a little generic. I do love the subject matter, and Galileo Galilei was a pioneering Astronomer, who famously met heavy opposition from the Roman Catholic Church for championing the idea that Earth revolved around the sun.

It’s great to see more historical figures make their way into official LEGO sets, and this will be a great addition to the LEGO Ideas GWP lineup.

It joins the following LEGO Ideas Gift with Purchases, and

Up next, we also have Ray the Castaway, the next LEGO Ideas Gift with Purchase which should be available in a couple of months.

Check out the 5 runner-ups below, and their vote tallies.

Oh, and speaking of Gift with Purchases, just a reminder that 40567 Forest Hideout will be available from tomorrow, 15-22 June 2022 from LEGO.com!

Aww I really wanted the Orrery to win.

I like Lego using these small IDEAs builds as GWPs. It is such a good opportunity for amateur to receive kudos for their efforts.

    • Jay says:

Yeah, also encourages builders to join these contests, where you don’t necessarily have to go through the ringer of a 10k votes, and formal LEGO Ideas review process to get your designs made into sets!

  3. Alex B says:

It looks like on his desk, the model of the earth will actually revolve around the sun, right? That would be an awesome detail.

    • Jay says:

Yup, that’s what the gear at the bottom is for. Hope they keep that detail, maybe moving the gear to the back of the model so the front is cleaner!
