Unboxing LEGO x IKEA BYGGLEK

LEGO has been kind enough to send their upcoming new collaboration with IKEA – BYGGLEK over for a bit of an interesting assignment – build and showcase how I’d use BYGGLEK at home!

UPDATE: Check out my review of IKEA x LEGO BYGGLEK to see what I thought of this new collaboration, and what I ended up building!

If you’ve been following me on Facebook or Instagram, you’d have seen a sneak preview of the boxes, and now, I’ve uploaded a short video unboxing the entire collection on to my Youtube channel

If you’re on Youtube, please consider subscribing as I’m uploading and thinking of a lot more video content to supplement what happens here on the blog.

I’ve had a lot more fun than expected getting started with the BYGGLEK assignment this weekend with my 3 year old daughter, and I can’t wait to show off what we did with our BYGGLEK boxes.

Stay tuned for the full review and photos of our creations in about a week!

Hmm, we have quite a bit of IKEA furniture in our house and love the storage solutions they offer, but I’m really struggling to see how I’d use this with their current range. My Daughter’s growing lego collection is currently in one of the square blocks that fit perfectly in the “Kallax” shelving systems along with her other toys in other boxes.

You’d need a lot of these boxes to fill that same space.

Having said that, the customisabiliity aspect is quite appealing, but why not studs on the side faces? That way you could build something to indicate what is inside, either using plates/dots to make words or even visual patterns.

Can’t wait to see your full review though – hopefully you’ll be able to highlight things we can’t get from the unboxing. (Also, to add to the others, loved seeing your daughter helping you 🙂 )

Looks great fun for litte ones, but with my collection I will need 1000’s of them! So will still go to IKEA but for their own unique storage.

Oh yeah, for more “professional” collectors, this isn’t going to cut it. Works great if you have a desk and want an easy to open container to store random bits or minifigures.

Your daughter has great patience & very good fine motor skills for a 3 year old.

Hope you have many years of happy building together.

Watching your very excited daughter using the scissors to open the polybags made me smile so hard, and that Bluey top, so cute! Your video was cool, don’t get me wrong, but a kid enjoying Lego, that is priceless. It brought back memories of when my kids were littler, and we built together. I will buy way too many of these sets because they look good. Thanks for the review Jay.

Thanks Craig! She’s very meticulous and loves helping me open Mario / Minifigure blind bags! Our BYGGLEK creation is pretty much all her creativity, so I can’t wait to show that off!
