So, I’ve been meaning to share this exciting piece of news for awhile – Jay’s Brick Blog is now officially an Online Recognised LEGO User Group!
Whoa, what does that mean? Well, traditionally, LEGO User Groups (LUGs) have been formalised groups and communities of LEGO enthusiasts who meet regularly to share and interact with other like-minded LEGO fans. Think of them as a LEGO club of sorts.
Recognised LUGs are those that have been officially recognised by LEGO and are part of the LEGO Ambassador Network, which provides all sorts of benefits such as having a designated LEGO Ambassador to represent them within the network, and also qualify for support from LEGO such as activity packs, LUGBulk and also participate in special projects or activities run by the LEGO AFOL Relations Program (ARP).
So an online RLUG is pretty much the same, except of course, since we’re all scattered around the world, we don’t necessarily get to meet up or hold displays BUT we still get to gush over our love of LEGO via the magical powers of the internet.
As an online RLUG, one of the main benefits is having a direct line of communication with LEGO as well as getting support from LEGO such as early review sets (the recent 21305 Ideas Maze review was the first opportunity I was offered) and other forms of support/prizes if any.
I’m mostly excited about access to early review copies, which allows me to compete with the larger LEGO blogs and news sites on a more even footing. Also, the idea that future giveaways and activities might be on the cards is pretty fun too,
There are some limitations now that we’re an official online RLUG such as the fact that I won’t be allowed to share leaked images or set news – which is why I didn’t post about the first LEGO Disney Minifigures leak. Not that I do much of that anyway.
So yeah, exciting news and I’m super honoured to be a LEGO Ambassador! 2016 is shaping up to be an awesome year, and I’m very excited at the opportunities that this will bring. In terms of the blog… there won’t be any huge changes, I’ll still be writing reviews, reporting on interesting news and covering the LEGO scene down under so it’ll be business as usual!
Special thanks to everyone for making this possible. This wouldn’t have happened without all of you and I am forever grateful for all the comments, discussions and conversations! So if you’ve never been part of a LEGO User Group, congratulations, you’re in one now! Thanks for making Jay’s Brick Blog such a thriving community!
Hi Jay,
I was told by my local LEGO store that in order to participate in the special AFOL events I need to join a lug. The local lug in my area appears to have shut down. Are we able to get the “stickers” from your online lug that go on our VIP card (onLine??) that would show me to be an AFOL for these events? I started my journey with LEGO in 2019 just before the pandemic hit so I am not familiar with this “sticker” requirement. My local store is in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I am subscribed to your blog.
Thanks, Wanda
hey Jay, im your fan like 5 years ago。
do you know how to be a RLUG?
i already read a lot information on https://lan.lego.com/ 。
and i also find this
RLUG
has 20-50 active members who meet on a regular basis
organizes locally oriented public events
has a basic organizational structure
utilize support offerings for RLUG initiatives
Do not share leaks and confidential information
ambassador actively participates in discussions and topics and shares experience and learnings on LAN
but, i dont know how to get in touch with Lego。
hope you can help me。
thank you Jay
I am wanting to order 300 of white 2×4 bricks for a school project. Any advise getting this build order? I have tried the AUKLug group in NZ but they are no help at all!
Ah bummer! For a bulk order with those quantities, I’d look at Bricklink for that. 300 bricks in a single colour is a little tricky as I’m not sure any local stores have 300, but you could try ordering from European stores.
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3001#T=S&C=1&O={%22color%22:1,%22st%22:%224%22,%22iconly%22:0}
Let me know if that could work for you, if not, drop me an email and I can tap my networks to see if I can get you any help.

Hey William, I’m actually not too well-versed with LEGO as investments, so I don’t know how I can help. If you’re looking to purely invest, I’m sure that there are better avenues to make money such as Index Funds.
With collectibles like LEGO, you really do need to do your homework, and I feel that LEGO is quite a risky investment as LEGO have and will continue to re-release old, retired sets.
If you’re really keen on investing anyway, it’s usually the non-obvious sets (not Modulars or Creator Expert) that appreciate – sets like Speed Champions due to the collectability, and also certain Ideas sets as they usually have short lifespans.
Sets with pop culture relevance like Wall-E also tend to do well, but it’s really, really hard to predict which sets will spike.
Sorry that I can’t be of more help!
This is pretty amazing news! Congratulations on getting the official status!
Thank you!
Awesome! This year is going to be great for jaysbrickblog and even better for us as the readers. Can’t wait. Well done.
Congratulations, you’ve definitely earned it ?
Thanks, man!
Pretty cool! Congrats!

Congrats, Jay! I waited about a day to make sure this wasn’t an April Fools joke , but I saw no mention of MegaFigs this year so I believe this is legit. And awesome to boot!
Haha! I did do it on purpose cause I thought it’d be funny if I made a huge announcement on April Fools! It’s 100% legit, I promise! Thanks so much for your continued support which has made this possible!
If this isn’t an April Fool’s joke, congratulations!
It’s not, thanks!
NICE!!! very NICE!!
Thanks!
Look at the date.
Lol
This better not be a joke. If it is, yay anyways! Everyone be happy for the sake of being happy!
Actually, just searched. RLUGs are a real thing, so, yeah.
No jokes although I think it was funny if I made a big announcement on April Fools, heh.
In that case, congratulations!
Haha thanks, mate!
You need to work on your timing. NEVER post on April first, ecspecially if it is news. 🙂
Haha I did it on purpose to be a little cheeky 😉
I have my own blog now, I might have some fun next Apri…
(Insert evil laughter here)
That would be awesome. Just make sure to enjoy writing 🙂

Wow! Well done Jay! That’s amazing!!! 😀 Can Youtube stopmotion channels get recognized as well???
I don’t think they can, Spud.
Yes! Not sure about stop motion but I do believe The Brick Show is an online RLUG
Wow! That’s great! 😀
Congrats Jay! It’s easy to see why TLG were keen to make you an official ambassador.

Thanks! I’m giddy with excitement!
Congratulations!!!
Thanks Nadia! Couldn’t have done it without your support!
Hi Jay that is fantastic maybe you could use your new powers to convince lego they should open a store down under. That would be amazing.
Totally agree! We need a Lego Certified Store!
Haha, I don’t think my powers stretch that far… But if I ever get the chance to meet LEGO higher-ups, I will definitely do so 🙂
April fools yeah?
If not… Well done mate!
Noooooooo, totally legit. Prank announcements on 1 April are so 2015 :p
Thanks so much man!
Congratulations!
I’ll have to look into this “LUG” business. Is there an list of official LUGs somewhere? The ” LUGBulk” perk sounds interesting. Is it like Bricks and Pieces, but cheaper?
Thanks! Here’s a map which shows the location of all LUGs worldwide!
Thanks! Here’s a map which shows the location of all LUGs worldwide!https://lan.lego.com/lugs
Yep, LUGbulk works similarly, although the chief purpose of it is to allow LUG members to get the elements they need for displays/community events.
Nice work!!!!
Thanks! It’s the community here that benefits most, so I hope you guys are as excited as I am!
Good on ya Jay, nice recognition for a great blog.
Thanks! It’s a huge honour!
