You can now cop some LEGO Ninjago Streetwear and adult apparel!

If you thought LEGO’s continued foray into apparel and streetwear begun and ended with Adidas, you’d be wildly wrong!

To celebrate Ninjago’s 10th anniversary, LEGO have teamed up with UK-based Hype. to launch a 28-piece streetwear collection that’s mostly designed for adults, along with some kids pieces.

Ninjago Capsule Details

The collection includes tees, shirts, shorts, hoodies, joggers, jackets and bags and will be available from Hype’s website from from 15 January 2021 and via LEGO.com from 14 January 2021.

The collection is inspired by the 2020 LEGO Ninjago TV series, which enters the Prime Empire, and takes the urban, futuristic and colourful city as inspiration behind this urban streetwear collection.

My Thoughts

So, it’s not all terrible. When I first heard of that LEGO were working on adult-focused Ninjago apparel, I was understandably concerned given that Ninjago is quite often targeted at younger fans.

Some of the designs aren’t too bad, and I like that some of them are subtle to go unnoticed and doesn’t scream that you’re wearing LEGO Ninjago-branded clothes.

Some, like this Saint Laurent-inspired Varsity/Bomber jacket seem pretty nice, and exude some degree of Japanese-streetwear chic, what with the dragon motifs and all.

Oh, and the Bruce Lee/Kill Bill-esque yellow tracksuit is great as well. I would really want to wear this out, haha.

For me, the biggest question mark is Hype. They seem like a reasonably well-established UK youth-fashion company, but this was the first time I’ve ever heard of them, and I’m pretty switched on about fashion/streetwear brands, so I can’t comment about their quality or even “street-cred”.

Will this line perform well? I’m curious to see the pricing, but I think it will do well enough, given all the hype around Ninjago for their 10th anniversary, and its huge, and passionate fanbase.

Also, while Ninjago might seem kiddy, when it erupted onto the LEGO Scene, there was nothing like it, and plenty of kids and teens who were enamoured by LEGO Ninjago are likely now young adults, so are the perfect target audience for this collection.

It’s definitely not for everyone!

Behind the LEGO Ninjago Streetwear Collection

The collection illustrates exciting memorable moments and characters from the franchise’s hugely successful TV series and the fictional world of LEGO® NINJAGO® building sets, Japanese & Chinese myths and culture.

Boasting mesh panelling, embroidery, on-trend chunky taping, branded neck ribs and over-sized graphics. With a metallic look accentuating the prints and the use of metal D rings; emphasising the power of the LEGO® NINJAGO® spirit.

Featuring over-sized silhouettes in the LEGO® NINJAGO® iconic colour palette of yellow, deep red, and monochrome, with the placement of the secret LEGO® NINJAGO® language spelling out ‘JUST HYPE’ throughout the collection, each individual tee showcases prints of your all-time favourite LEGO® NINJAGO® characters.
