Introducing the newest member of the Jay’s Brick Blog team

I’d like to introduce you to Laura Ong, the newest team member to join the Jay’s Brick Blog team! She’s a little new to the world and hasn’t really learned English yet…but hopefully, she’ll be able to contribute to the blog in a few years – hopefully she’ll help write some DUPLO reviews!

It’s been a pretty hectic last few weeks preparing for her arrival, which is why I haven’t been able to write much, but I do have a few reviews in the pipeline such as Series 16, LEGO Disney Castle and the Winter Holiday train. It’s going to take a while, since I have to deal with sleep deprivation and all that jazz, so look out for those reviews in the coming weeks!

Congratulations! Is it your first child? My 7 month old has quite the collection of sets stored and waiting to be revealed over the coming years. The prize in the collection is the ultra-rare 4999 Vestas Wind Turbine, which I built once before disassembling and it looked spectacular.

To be honest, saw this coming from when you said you’ve been busy with family.

But glad to have another possible future LEGO reviewer in the world! Can’t wait for more reviews, Jay, keep ’em coming!

You’re going to have a little partner in Lego adventures in no time. I love hipster Mum & Dad with baby…so appropriate and timely! I wish you many ‘fun in the park’ times ahead : )

Wow! Congrats, I hope to read some very interesting Duplo reviews in the next couple years. I totally understand the lack of reviews. My mom just gave birth to a fourth kid a couple months ago, so I am relearning how hard it is to have a baby in the house. I hope you don’t loose too much sleep. 😛

She is awfully darn cute though. Congrats Jay and have fun with the new arrival!

The sleep deprivation is tough, but won’t last forever. And it won’t be that long before she is playing with Duplo and then Lego….and then you’ll have even more reason to buy Lego.

My review of the new 75349 Captain Rex and 75350 C My review of the new 75349 Captain Rex and 75350 Clone Commander Cody is up, and here's a closer look at some of the details.

They both will be released on 1 March 2023, and will retail for US$69.99 / AU$99.99 / £59.99 and can be pre-ordered now.

I think both helmets are excellent additions to the LEGO Star Wars Helmet Collection. Both Phase 1 and Phase 2 Clone Trooper helmets translate incredibly well, and there are some masterful sculpting techniques and great use of negative space to get the look just right.

I have to say that I much prefer Commander Cody out of the two, because of the 212th's orange markings, and cool features like the visor and fin. Captain Rex, while having some cutting-edge building techniques have some really poorly colour-match stickers which distract from the otherwise great build.

Will you be planning on picking any of these up?

Special thanks to @lego for sending these early review sets over!
