The Mandalorian TV series has reinvigorated Star Wars fans, many of whom are weary because of the lacklustre Sequel Trilogy, and in the finale of Season 2 (The Rescue), we were treated to what it perhaps one of the most epic scenes ever – Luke Skywaker showing out of absolutely nowhere to rescue Grogu.
In the legendary hallway scene – we get to see Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, fully-powered and ruthlessly eviscerates an entire platoon of Dark Troopers to rescue Grogu.
One of the most iconic Star Wars scenes absolutely deserves a LEGO Star Wars set on its own, and the Star Wars Design team have delivered with 75324 Dark Trooper Attack, allowing fans to re-create that scene in stunning accuracy for their collections.
Also known as the LEGO Dark Trooper Battle Pack, this is quite possibly one of the most anticipated LEGO Star Wars sets of 2022, and will be one of the most in-demand sets, especially for army builders.
I was lucky enough to have received a review copy, ahead of its 1 March 2022 release date, so let’s get into it!

There’s no denying the incredible appeal of this set. With 4 minifigures (3x Dark Troopers and Luke Skywalker), this really is a glorified Dark Trooper Battle Pack/army builder.
It falls under the same class as last year’s incredibly popular 501st Legion Clone Trooper, as sort of a deluxe, and more expensive battle pack, but I doubt the price will dissuage LEGO Star Wars fans from picking multiples up.
I cannot express how happy it was to see Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, in his black Return of the Jedi robes, fully-powered up and attuned with the Force.
When his green lightsaber lit up, I felt like I was 6 watching Return of the Jedi for the very first time.
This is an absolutely sensational Luke Skywalker minifigure, with updated torso and leg print, a great fabric cape, and most excitingly, a new black cowl/hood.
Luke has both a neutral, battle-ready (imma murder some Dark Trooper) expression, as well as a slightly happier expression, as well as back printing.
That said, the main drawcards are the 3 Dark Trooper Minifigures. Dark Troopers were previously incredibly expensive on the secondary market, going for up to $50 at one point, as they were exclusive to Moff Gideon’s Imperial Light Cruiser set, so LEGO throwing THREE in a US$29.99 is simply unreal.
Let it never be said that the LEGO Star Wars design team doesn’t care about Star Wars fans.
The Dark Troopers are great, with their awesome new moulded helmets, printed armour pieces, as well as highly detailed prints of their torso and legs.
Here’s a look at the insane level of printing on their heads, and backs.
The helmets in particular, are incredibly well designed, and I’m so glad that this is an economical way to get your hands on Dark Troopers without breaking the bank. LEGO have been on a roll with Dark Troopers lately!
The build itself is small – at only 166 pieces, you do get a substantial model, a cutout of the hallway before the great Dark Trooper massacre of 2021.
Stickers are aplenty here, used for all the electronic panels and lights in the hallway, as well as the elevator, but they do a great job of mimicking the details in the iconic scene, and feel very Star Wars.
The hallway may look plain, but as this is a Deluxe Army Builder set, even if you purchase multiples of them, these elements, and stickered decorations will absolutely come in handy for the hallways of bases, and building larger dioramas or settings that have the right Star Wars look and feel.
But wait, there’s more – there are also super fun play features built in – the dial above the elevator, allows you to dramatically reveal Luke Skywalker, just like the scene – something really satisfying as a play feature!
Additionally, there are dials, and even a pull-back function, allowing you to emulate Luke Skywalker’s force powers, causing Dark Troopers to spin, and get Force-pushed.
The set being a small diorama, also makes for great fun posing the minifigures – there are so many scenes you can re-create, such as Luke Skywalker force-choking a Dark Trooper, and exploding it from the inside.
Or Luke Skywalker, making quick work of the Dark Troopers, decapitating and destroying a whole bunch of them in the corridor.
It’s a lot of fun to setup, and I expect Star Wars fans will find a lot of enjoyment with the set.
What I liked:
- A brilliant set doing justice to a legendary scene
- Three Dark Trooper minifigures
- Hallway is useful for play or photography
- Play features are a lot of fun
- Hallway elements and stickers are usable for MOCs
What I didn’t like:
- A bit too many stickers than I would’ve liked
- This set will sell out instantly, and be hard to get as fans buy multiples
LEGO have knocked 75324 Dark Trooper Attack out of the galactic park, delivering an exquisite Deluxe Battle Pack that’s just begging to be purchased in multiples.
Including 3 Dark Troopers feels awfully generous, considering these were worth quite a bit previously, and ensures that fans can get their hands on as many as they like without jumping through too many hoops.
The design of the hallway enables you to re-create so many facets of the iconic Luke Skywalker scene, and the play features don’t feel forced (heh) in any way.
Having a brand new display of Luke Skywalker at his strongest in 2021 is a dream come true, and having a LEGO set that pays homage to that legendary scene is just a dream come true.
This is one of the most satisfying LEGO Star Wars sets yet, and one of the best this year, allowing you to either army build, or have a compact display of one of the most memorable Star Wars scenes ever.
I really can’t think of any faults, except maybe how hard it will be to get your hands on this set, as I expect nearly every Star Wars fans will want to own one, if not more of these sets.
Rating and score: 4/5 ★★★★✰
Build – Nothing too groundbreaking, but I enjoyed how accurately it depicted a Star Wars hallway
Real Value – 3 Dark Troopers, a modern ROTJ Luke and hallways elements represent exceptional value
Innovation – Nothing too innovating, but a really great example of what a deluxe battle pack could be
Coolness – One of the best Star Wars scenes in LEGO form
Keepability – This is an absolute keeper, and I wouldn’t begrudge people holding on to dozens of these.
