LEGO Build-a-Minifigure Q1 2023 selection revealed!

We’re not quite in 2023 yet, but the Legoland Japan Twitter account has given us a look at the upcoming selection of Q1 2023 LEGO Build a Minifigure exclusives that will likely be available in the New Year.

This lineup of Build-a-Minifigure (BAM) minifigure parts and accessories feature some interesting new recoloured elements, and are typically exclusive to Build a Minifigure stations that you can find at LEGO Stores.

Excitingly, there’s a new Brick Costume colour, with an Orange variant for to add to our collections! For those with a sweet tooth, we have a brand new Strawberry Shortcake costume, and a small female clown with a fantastic two-tone Harley Quinn hairpiece.

There’s also a new Crayon Suit minifigure design as well, and what looks like a new Martini Glass accessory!

The 2023 Lunar New Year falls on 22 January, and with it, we also get some new options for Chinese-themed minifigures. There’s some interesting recolours, with a new blue rabbit, a new design for a Panda Suit minifigure, and if it’s like previous years, I’m willing to bet the Chinese girl’s qipao/cheongsam has a Year of the Rabbit 2023 print on the back.

As it’s the Year of the Rabbit, it’s great to see Rabbit Ears make an appearance in the Build a Minifigure station, as well as egg splats. I believe the guitar is a new recolour as well.

And last but not least, we have a new red boat, a recolour of Series 24’s Ferry Captain’s ship costume, a more accessible way to get the lovely dark green outfit first seen in the Motorised Lighthouse set, as well as a new Purple Flower costume, and what’s likely a new torso with a Morning Glory flower design.

It seems like Legoland Japan has gotten the Q1 2023 BAM selection early, as their tweet suggests that they’re now available. These will likely be available worldwide from January 2023 onwards, and like previous Build-a-Minifigure exclusives, can be found in your local LEGO Stores.

That rainbow shirt and jacket torso are a must buy for me. I’ll definitely be using that to make a custom Bill Potts minifigure to go with my 12th Doctor from Doctor Who. I might use that brown hair piece with the yellow as well. I’ll need to get a closer look at it in the store.

  2. Dana says:

I personally know a guy who loves LEGO, whose favorite color is orange, and who photographs his minifigs doing amusing things as a hobby.

He’s freaking out a little bit right now, haha.

  3. Shaag says:

I have a feeling the crayon is supposed to be a rocket/firework/sparkler kind of thing, right? It seems like a new years themed guy

  4. Scott Powell says:

I’d be happy if my local Lego shop had 2022 Q4 figures in the build a station. Still using the Q2 figures.

Love to see the animal recolours, though blue isn’t the must useful colour of rabbit.

That martini glass is not new – it was introduced in Harry Potter CMF series 2 in trans-clear, and subsequently in trans neon orange in Diagon Alley. It’s also been on Bricks & Pieces / Pick a Brick.

    • Jay says:

Oh thanks, I wasn’t aware that it was in Diagon Alley! I did remember it from Ginny Weasley, but didn’t realise it had been in orange before this!
