LEGO has revealed 40634 LEGO Icons of Play, a football-themed LEGO set featuring some of the biggest names in women’s football, just in time for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup!
The set features minifigures of some of the best women’s football players that will be representing their countries in the world cup, including Chelsea and Australian striker Sam Kerr, the United States’ National Women’s Team’s Megan Rapinoe, Nigerian and FC Barcelona striker Asisat Oshoala and former Japanese star Yuki Nagasato.
40634 LEGO Icons of Play will be available from LEGO.com, and LEGO stores from 6 June 2023 onwards. See below for regional pricing and product pages
- 40634 LEGO Icons of Play [US] – US$99.99
- 40634 LEGO Icons of Play [AUS] – AU$169.99
- 40634 LEGO Icons of Play [UK] – £89.99
- 40634 LEGO Icons of Play [EU] – €99.99
- 40634 LEGO Icons of Play [CA] – CAD$TBD

The set comes with a whopping 15 minifigures, which also includes a 5-a-side team including a goalie, a manager, a referee and some supporters in the stands.
The build is also quite substantial, and includes half a football field, a goal, TV cameras, a technical area for the manager, a trophy podium, and stands for the supporters.
I’m a huge football fan, and with the FIFA Women’s World Cup taking place in Australia and New Zealand this year, I’m extra excited for this set, especially as it comes with a Sam Kerr minifigure.
She’s one of the hottest names in women’s football, and will be a huge draw for this set.

Also helps that LEGO is a current sponsor of The Matildas, the Australian women’s national team.

The set also re-uses the jerseys from 21337 Table Football. The LEGO Foosball Table hasn’t been the best-received set, owing to its eye-watering price, but with the attention of the world upon the FIFA Women’s World Cup, I can see this one doing okay, especially as it seems like pretty decent value, for so many minifigures.

That said – LEGO has a very clear target audience for this set – fans of football, and the players represented here, and are likely hoping to jump on the excitement of the FIFA Women’s World Cup to convert football fans into LEGO fans.
What do you think of 40634 Icons of Play? Will you be interested in picking one up?
Special thanks to Dylan Chow for the heads up on this set!

Would definitely like a heads up when this becomes available.
According to the article, “40364 Icons of Play is slated for a 6 June 2023 release date”.
As the Women’s World Cup will be held in Australia, I’d assume this particular set won’t see any delayed Australian release like some others.
Alexia Putellas twice winner of the Ballon d’Or. Where is ?
Hmm, although this set feels more motivated than the foosball set, it still comes across as trying to be too many things at once. Hopefully the heads and hairpieces would turn up on Bricks And Pieces, though.
(And that we’ll soon get some more widely available torsos with Medium Brown and Medium Tan hands, with a more useful, generic design than this stylized jumpsuit…
This is way too much overpriced!
Hey Jay, is this set going to be available in Australia?
The FIFA Womens World Cup is going to be held here, so it bloody well should be!
Jokes aside yes, it should be available here
God, I wish they’d bring back the playable Football/Soccer sets. Hose were so much fun, but I feel like they oversaturated their own market with a few too many sets back in the day.
The set looks fun–but I really wish they’d done something to differentiate the minifig jerseys from the foosball set. I also think that this is kinda a niche item–especially for the American market and it may not be well received at the asking price point.
Hi All,
Love the idea, being an Australian I’m glad that Sam Kerr has been included, she is in my opinion the best football player Australia has produced.
Bit of a shame the players weren’t in their national home team colours, ie yellow shirt for Sam.
Cheers
I think she is comfortably the best Australian player. No other player ever received votes in Ballon D’or – Kerr has 4 top-10s (including 2 x 3rd-place)
A shame these figures have generic torsos but cool none the less.
What’s with LEGO releasing half a set…? Pyramid, UP House, this new one…
My choice of soccer sets is still 3409: Championship Challenge. Extremely playable and still kicks this new set out of the park.
This is way too much overpriced!
