LEGO 40687 Space Diner is the gift with purchase (GWP) of my dreams!

LEGO’s online store has unveiled 40687 Space Diner, an upcoming gift with purchase (GWP) that’s full of Classic Space goodness!

There’s no release date yet or purchase threshold details yet, but with this showing up online so early, I have a sneaking suspicion that it will become available in time for the release of  10341 NASA Artemis Space Launch System and 31212 The Milky Way, which will launch on 15 May 2024. Either that or 1st of June 2024.

Classic Space fans will be delighted to get two astronauts, a White and Orange one in the set. The orange one in particular is a little rare, as it was previously only available in the LEGO Minifigures: A Visual History book.

Interestingly, no oxygen tanks are included (you can buy them separately on Pick a Brick online), but I guess as they’re indoor in the Space Diner, they don’t need them.

As a big Classic Space fan, I just love how fun this set is and more importantly, look forward to adding more modern Classic Space Astronauts to my collection. One can’t ever have enough Orange Astronauts!

This wasn’t on the website for very long as it was a 404 for me on May 9th. Probably a mistake to be so early.

This set has so much character and is a must-have for my collection. It’s also very exciting that the orange classic space figure is back (and maybe if we are really, really lucky, the torso will find its way to Pick-a-Brick online?
I would love to see Lego add a green or light grey classic space helmet to some kit (any kit) in the way that the dark grey one showed up in divers, so that we can complete our classic space astronauts from the Exoskeleton suit and properly outfit the CMF from series 17.

Now I don’t mind so much I missed out on the May the 4th offers. Hopefully these will just be linked to total spend rather than a particular purchase so I can pick up the Star Wars sets I was going to…

TBH, I was surprised to read your enthusiastic title and thought it was a bit of a clicbait however after I had read it, I realised it’s the next best Spacemen battle pack after Benny’s Space Squad 🙂 If only there was one more fig…
I am lucky to have the orange one, so probably pass this time, but I am happy for everyone who can finally add this one to their collections!

I really like the new look of your blog. It’s clean and easy to read. You are number one on my list of brick blogs to visit. Keep up the great work Jay!
