LEGO City Summer 2024 sets include a return to the Jungle with Johnny Thunder!

LEGO Summer 2024 previews continue with a look at all the new LEGO City sets, featuring a return of the Jungle sub-theme and a beloved Adventurer – Johnny Thunder! These new LEGO City sets are set to be released in June 2024 for the UK/Europe, whereas I believe North America should be getting these sets in August 2024.

A fan-favourite LEGO Delivery truck also makes a return, with 3221 LEGO City Truck updated for a whole new generation of LEGO City fans!

There’s plenty to be excited about the 2024 LEGO City Jungle sub-theme, especially with Johnny Thunder making a return. New animal moulds like the Red Panda, Gorillas, and a new Tiger are also great news for animal collectors.

Elsewhere, the modernised LEGO City continues to deliver with some spectacular Cranes, cars and even a Robot World Theme Park featuring a mech from LEGO Exo Force – a long-retired mecha/anime-inspired theme from 2006.

Never in a million years would I expect to see the Stealth Hunter born again in a LEGO City set, but here we are!

Check out all the new LEGO City sets and more photos below!

    TRAIN?

  2. Andrew H says:

Oh wow! So many good sets coming out. The auto carrier is ok, but the classic flame car and the purple car put it into full yes for me. I will probably skip the jungle helicopter, and the tow truck as I do not like the unitary car bases. Otherwise I will be adding all of these to my want list! Thank you Jay, I look forward to these set reviews!

  3. Felipe L says:

Do I see a possible call back to the Harry Caine minifigurewhich was also from the Adventurers theme (along with Johnny Thunder)? I’m referring to the pilot in both the helicopter and water plane sets in the Jungle Explorer theme!

  4. Daniel says:

Is the oranged haired minifig in 60420 Construction Excavator a reference to Howard Roark the architect in The Fountainhead? I’m surprised the designers inclded that reference 😀

  5. John Cooper says:

why do no lego city sets in 2024 have no number plates. its not a good look

  6. Richard. says:

Some nice kits in the City range and Technic, but no prices in Sterling and looking at the Eur/Usd prices its got to be worth purchasing sets in USD to get value for money…Somewhat pleased the company I work for have been taken over and I get to cash my shares in later this year…

  7. Glenn says:

Is it me or has the price per part gone up yet again. The truck is $100?!?! Really?!?! I’ll continue to buy on the second hand market (yard sales) There’s nothing like buying a huge tub of LEGO for $50-$100 and getting these gems in a few years..

  8. Alex says:

    One word: Gorillas!!!!

  9. Big Train Bricks says:

I must have that LEGO Truck, the tiger, and the car transporter

  10. Sean says:

It is really impressive how these all look so fun and fresh but remain clearly grounded in reality. The creative direction is outstanding.

  11. Lorraine O'Mahoney says:

💕I love that the red panda is in one of the cheapest sets.

Too often the ‘special’ figures are only in the bigger, more expensive ones.

Having seen them in zoos in Paris and the Isle of Wight, I think they’re adorable.

I’ve even seen video of them walking on their hind legs – seemingly naturally and not as a circus trick.

  12. Russ says:

Lego City have knocked it out of the park this year. I’m so glad to see some larger more detailed sets with the trucks and construction. I hope this trend continues.

  13. Scott says:

So glad to see the panda in the impulse buy set, like the otters and seals before them.
An outstanding range and variety, but I fear for my wallet at the cost of so many sets of around or over 1000 pieces

  14. George says:

I need to get my hands on that red panda. it’s so cute
