LEGO officially unveils 10265 Ford Mustang, arguably the most beautiful set of 2019

I’m so pleased to be able to unveil what is definitely THE most awe-inspiring LEGO set of 2019 – the 1471-piece LEGO Creator Expert Ford Mustang.

This jaw-dropping model is set to be released on 1 March 2019 (no VIP early release that we know of) and will retail for US$149.99 and AU$199.99.

It will be available from LEGO.com and from LEGO Brand Retail stores. See below for regional pricing and links:

It’s hard to definitively say until I actually get this set in-hand, but from the official photos released, this model has a really strong shot of claiming the title of Best Creator Expert Model Car yet.

The LEGO Ford Mustang pays homage to the iconic 1960s American muscle car that’s become almost a symbol of American motorsport heritage and identity, thanks to films such as Steve McQueen’s Bullitt.

This version of the Ford Mustang, judging by the license plates is based on the 1967 GT Fastback and features a very sleek dark-blue bodywork with white racing stripes.

The model measures over 3” (10cm) high, 13” (34cm) long and 5” (14cm) wide. For comparison’s sake, it’s about the same length as 10258 Double Decker Bus and just as wide all most of the previous Creator Expert vehicles.

True to the Creator Expert Vehicle series, the details that the designers have been able to squeeze in are just sublime.

Excitingly, while this set does have its share of stickers, what will delight LEGO fans is the abundance of printed elements and parts in new colours.

As if the model wasn’t already gorgeous enough, the designers have also included the ability to modify the muscle car, by adding a supercharger to it, which will surely get everyone’s engines going.

Here’s a look at the detailed V8 engine inside.

And yes, you can also add in a tank of Nitrous Oxide (NOS) in the boot to juice up the car even further.

And yes, you can also raise the car’s suspension to engage full-on tyre-screeching mode.

From these photos, it’s abundantly clear – the LEGO Creator Expert Ford Mustang is in pole position to claim the title of set of 2019. In fact, if this does materialise as the best set of 2019, I wouldn’t be surprised at all as this is THE set to beat.

I’m utterly blown away by this model, and will absolutely be getting this on Day One. The proportions seem to be just right and if you’re a fan of the LEGO Creator series of cars, or are just starting to get into Adult LEGO sets – this set just screams BUY ME.

I’m a big fan of the Creator Expert Cars and have them all permanently displayed on a shelf in my room (except for the Aston and Double Decker Bus), and I will definitely be making space for this come the 1st of March.

The LEGO Creator Expert Ford Mustang will be released on 1 March 2019 on LEGO.com. Watch this space as I’ll definitely be looking to review this set when I get my hands on it.

What do you think of the official reveal of 10265 Ford Mustang? Let me know in the comments how badly you want it!

By the way, as part of the official press pack… LEGO included some lifestyle images with what seems to be a massive LEGO Ford Mustang fan.

These images are absolutely hilarious, and I’ve dubbed the guy as LEGO Mustang Die-Hard fan. This is his story.

Staring longingly at my LEGO Ford Mustang. “You are such a gorgeous collection of LEGO bricks.”

“I’m pretending to read my motorsport magazine but I’m secretly gazing at you out of the corner of my eye.”

“Ah, who am I kidding! Reading is for nerds. I just want to admire you all day long. You’ve brought so much meaning into my life.”

“And now, to show you how much I love you, let me caress you with my bare hands.”

“I’ll even give you a little sniff, because the scent of freshly assembled LEGO bricks is simply intoxicating.”

“Even when I’m at a different part of my beautiful yet sparsely populated home, I cannot bear to be apart from you. You bring me so much joy.”

“I’ll continue reading my magazine. I wish I knew how to quit you”

“Oh, stop it! You just laying there, with your beautiful dark blue bricks and striking white racing stripes – I just can’t help but stare. Again and again and again.”

*sniffing intensifies* “No one gets me like you do”

“Sigh, maybe the guys at work are right. You cannot form healthy romantic relationships with inanimate objects, no matter how much we’re meant to be.”

cool car! will definitely buy one! do you know if the 911 GT / Bugatti Chiron collection will be complemented by a new model this year?

  2. DC says:

‘A bit boxy’??? Nonsense! It’s meant to be like that!

    • Dale Brandt says:

Compare with the Aston Martin D5.
wbich looks terrible being boxy !

The LEGO Mustang’s shape is a bit better defined, but the actual 1967 Mustang, while not real curvy, was not boxy.

  3. Dale Brandt says:

    Nice design.
A bit boxy, but not as bad as the Aston Martin DB5.
Don’t use decals. You want printing, etc. to be molded into the bricks straight, curved, etc.
You don’t want decals to curl up, peel off, or dry out.

  4. Alex says:

Great article jay, can’t stop smiling! Not been a huge fan of expert cars in the past but this one has me interested for sure despite the hefty price tag. Looking forward to your review when you get it!

  5. James Wynne says:

Normally LEGO Creator Expert vehicles don’t really do it for me but such is your enthusiasm for this set it is nearly infectious so I will buy this one when it comes out!!! Thank you for drawing my attention to this superb set.

  6. Count me in, I’m getting one (or two). Yes I agree a much better and true to life kit.

  7. Anthony says:

A beautiful looking set, the price is good (i’d Always want it to be less ?).
But this is a rare day 1 purchase for me.

  8. David says:

An improvement over the 007 model.
