LEGO Minifigures Series 26 Space QR Box Codes Identification and Weight Guide

Great news for those of you very excited for the launch of the LEGO Minifigures Series 26 coming on 1 May 2024* as LEGO has made it even easier to identify the contents of each blind box thanks to scannable QR Codes!

*Australia and New Zealand gets them in June 2024… a month late as usual.

Update: I’ve recently developed a new tool to scan minifigures, with no app required! Check out the Jay’s Brick Blog Minifig Scanner! Currently, Series 26 Space is supported!

Once again, there’s no need to ransack and tear open LEGO Minifigure Boxes any more, or even resort to weighing as it seems that all new batches of Series 26 Space now have the large scannable codes printed on the boxes!

I’ve been able to independently verify the accuracy of the codes thanks to a couple of helpful readers, and also through two full sets that LEGO sent me for my upcoming review, so without further ado, here’s the best way to find the minifigures you want in LEGO Minifigures Series 26!

Using the Jay’s Brick Blog Minifig Scanner

As part of the new site redesign, I’ve developed my very own LEGO Minifig Scanner which will help you identify the contents of the boxes, wherever you are in the world.

For easy access, you can access the Minifig Scanner via this link, or if you type in minifigscanner.com into your browser which will redirect you to the tool.

It’s completely free to use, works on both Android and Apple devices, and you don’t need to download any apps as it natively uses the camera on your device via your browser.

All you have to do is activate the scanner, and point it at the large QR codes printed at the bottom of each box of LEGO Minifigures Series 26.

Try to get in as close as you can, and ensure that the QR code is in focus for the scan to work. I also recommend obscuring the barcode with your finger so it doesn’t accidentally scan it.

How to scan and read the CMF Series 26 Codes using a QR Code/Barcode Scanner

Content here has been replicated from the Series 25 Guide, so this should all be the same. What’s different is that there seems to be no smaller Data Matrix Codes for Series 26 onwards, which is good news!

The secret lies in the QR codes (aka Data Matrix codes) found at the bottom of the boxes, to the right of the barcode.

You’ll need an app (some phone cameras do this natively) that allows you to scan QR Codes (any free QR Code Scanner App will do), which will spit out some codes, or for a much simpler alternative, use the Jay’s Brick Blog Minifg Scanner which has now been updated to scan both US and EU versions of LEGO Minifigures Series 26 boxes!

It’s completely free to use, works on both Android and Apple devices, and you don’t need to download any apps as it natively uses the camera on your device via your browser.

If you’re using a standard Barcode Scanner app to read the Data Matrix code, the first 7-digit code will now help you identify the minifigure inside each box, BUT it also depends on where your LEGO Minifigures were manufactured in.

In the 2nd series (also the same as the printed code beneath the QR code), you’ll notice that the 5-character code should either have an S or R in the 4th position. This denotes factory where the Minifigures were manufactured and packed in.

R = Mexico, which should apply to minifigures sold in the USA, Canada and possibly Latin/South America.

S = Czech Republic, which should apply to minifigures sold in the UK, EU.

See below for the codes and which minifigures they correspond with. Sequentially, the EU codes seem to be one number ahead of the Mexico codes.

LEGO Minifigures Series 26 Space Weight Guide

Technology can sometimes be iffy, and if there’s any issues with reading the QR codes, or if the tool is buggy, you can always still resort to weighing the minifigures to help determine what’s inside.

I really recommend scanning and/or matching the codes as they’re just so much more reliable as the weights can fluctuate due to differences in cardboard stock or the adhesives used to stick the box together.

I weighed two different sets of Series 26 and these are the averages I arrived at!

If you manage to find Series 26 minifigures, post your findings in the comments below, and let me know if there are any issues with the Minifig Scanner!

  1. Mark says:

Thanks for the data codes Jay.

I just sorted the UK / EU list by code number.
The first set are a simple list from 6484685 to 6484696 however the second list is not contiguous. It runs from 6484904 to 6484916 but it’s missing 6484913!
Seems strange they don’t match one for one?
    Any idea why?
    Cheers from UK.

  2. Rich says:

I used the Brick Search scanner in the UK yesterday and it worked perfectly. Took about ten minutes to find a complete set. 😊

  3. Abaddon says:

Rather pointless here in Australia as all the series so far have had the small codes 🙁

  4. Nancy says:

Canada here. Never found any scannable series 25 but was excited to see that series 26 released today had the new codes at Lego store and ToysRUs. In record time I identified one of each minifig. Post purchase opening and comparison to scan results = 100% accurate. Not all codes scanned but eventually I found them all. Thank you for featuring the Brick search app.

  5. Anthony says:

THANK YOU so much for the scanner!

  6. SFLego says:

Whats the point of making it a mystery if you can just scan the boxes to find out? haha. Might as well just let us buy the sets at retail prices.

  7. Jana W says:

Found a couple today at Walmart. For the US, I can confirm that the following codes match the list:

    6484917 – Blacktron Mutant
    6484922 – Retro Space Heroine

Unfortunately, Jay’s code scanner didn’t work with my iPhone 12 Pro, but the Code Scan app that I downloaded for Series 25 did work.

    Spoiler –

The baseplates have really cool stars printed on them!

  8. Laura says:

I have yet to find the larger QR codes on either Series 25 or now Series 26. Two different stores had Series 26 out early – all with small QR codes which of course do not scan.

  9. samgreen says:

Worked like a charm, I just left this tab open in my iPhone browser and got in a groove of scanning. Only one I couldn’t scan and that was due to bad printing. I did have to keep tricking my iPhone to use the very close focus by moving the camera to the back of my hand, covering the upc with my thumb and then moving the code slowly towards and away from the camera. Scanned two boxes in like ten minutes, including the hemming and hawing over final numbers of each I wanted! Huge fan

  10. Jeff S says:

Wanted to say thanks for all your work for cracking these figure codes Jay. I was able to find them early today at Target and tried using your scanner to identify them, but it wouldn’t work – it just wouldn’t register. But I was able to use a different code scanner and your guide to find the figures I wanted. So thanks for putting all this together!

  11. RW says:

Very cool idea, but I just came from Target and the codes are completely different to those listed and so the scanner app didn’t work. I’m in the US.

  12. Christopher Ernest Evans says:

Hi Jay! Thanks so much as always. Your assistance in the identification of these figs is very much appreciated as is everything that you do for us fellow AFOLs.

My wife and I found these at Target yesterday and the scanner worked flawlessly with 100% accuracy.

  13. DaBizzo says:

It’s really hard to go by weight alone. I tested this theory and it was off on every single one I tested. You can’t use just weight due to the amount of glue they use to close the packaging. Maybe the QRcode will help, but I just had to throw in my 2 cents on this.

    Thanks!
    DaBizzo

  14. Ben says:

    Hi Jay

Can your Minifigure scanner work for Series 25 Minifigures in Australia?

  15. Michael says:

No picture of the interior sheet with the numbering on it? It’s nice to be able to refer to them by sheet number.

  16. Holden says:

Thanks Jay! I was just wondering, do you (or anyone else) know which codes (R or S) is in New Zealand? I’m abroad for this series and would like to pick them up while I’m here. Thanks a bunch!

  17. J says:

What phone type or browser do you use? I’m using edge on android and I can save any site to my phone in a way that it acts like an app and just launch it from my main screen. Also use the Microsoft launcher and have a number of desktop like spaces so don’t have to always have it be on my main one. I tried adding the minifig scanner and it only took me a couple clicks and a scroll to get what I wanted, I might possibly be able to get it faster if I made sure it was the direct link.

  18. Rowan J says:

I actually prefer using an app. I feel like it’s easier to get to, and when scanning figs, I’m more likely just to click two buttons to reach Bricksearch’s scanner. However, if you made an app form of your blog.., I would use your scanner every time, because I want to support you, but I also want it to be easy to reach.

  19. Steele Istre says:

    Thank you for this, Jay!
Yesterday I was able to pick up just three of the figures (more to come later 😁) Alien Beetleoid, Blacktron Mutant and Ice Planet Explorer.
Initially I tried to use Jay’s Brick Blog Minifigure scanner- to no avail (although I may have been using it incorrectly). Even though the QR code was in focus and the barcode was covered, it never registered.
After a few tries I just used the scanning app I had downloaded from the previous Minifigure series, and found the code-to-Minifigure-match on Reddit. All three matched!
In the future when I purchase more I will give your scanner another chance!
    Thank you again.

Regarding Series 25, an unrecognizable code was used in some regions. Have you seen any codes that cannot be identified in Series 26?
