10270 Modular Bookshop and new 2020 LEGO sets now available!

Happy New Year and welcome to a whole new decade! I hope that you had a great time ushering in the New Year, whether you were out partying, watching the fireworks or like me, safely in bed at a very responsible time.

The 1st of January also means the start of H1 (first half of LEGO’s calendar year), and a whole slew of new 2020 LEGO sets are now available on LEGO.com.

Here’s a quick rundown of new LEGO sets:

10270 Creator Expert Bookshop

You can kick the year off with the new 2020 modular, 10270 Bookshop or (bookstore, of that’s your preferred term) to expand your modular street. This 2,504 piece set contains a classic bookshop, and adjoining townhouse, and comes with 5 minifigures.

New DC Super Heroes Minifigures Series

Launching today is the new DC Super Heroes minifigures series, featuring 16 all-new characters from the DC Comics universe.

They’re not loaded up in the Australian store yet for some reason, but are now available to order in the United Kingdom, and the USA when it ticks over to the new year.

They’ll also start trickling out to toy and retail stores in the coming days.

New 2020 LEGO Marvel Super Heroes

There’s also a slew of new Marvel, Spider-Man and Avengers sets available including the new Mechs, which include the new Thanos Mech which comes with a Thanos minifigure.

New 2020 LEGO City

Some highlights from the new LEGO City range include the Safari Off-Roader and Ice-Cream Truck

New 2020 Friends

There doesn’t seem to be a defining theme with the new 2020 LEGO Friends sets – it just seems like there’s more stuff to expand Heartlake City with, including a few rehashes of prior sets such as a new Hospital, and Hair Salon.

Out of the entire range, the Nature Glamping set seems like the most interesting one for me.

New 2020 Creator

New for 2020 are a bunch of new Creator 3-in-1 sets, most of which are quite affordable. Highlights include the new Monster Burger Truck and Townhouse Toy Store

New 2020 Speed Champions

Fans of the Speed Champions theme are in for an octane-filled New Year, with a whole fleet of new cars dropping.

I’m really excited to get my hands on the new Nissan GT-R NISMO set, which is the first Japanese sportscar to feature in the Speed Champions theme.

Hopefully this opens up the possibility of us getting an RX-7, Toyota Supra and maybe even a Skyline GT-R in the future.

New LEGO Trolls

When LEGO Trolls World Tour was announced, it was met with derision from most Adult LEGO fans, but I’m actually quite excited for these wacky-looking sets, and I have a gut feel that they’ll do quite well, especially when the new Trolls World Tour movie gets released.

New 2020 Hidden Side

The second wave of Hidden Side sets are also available, but with Australian retailers deep-discounting the first wave (which is never a good sign), it feels like this theme is doomed, and uh, gloomed.

New 2020 LEGO Ninjago

The new wave of 2020 LEGO Ninjago takes on video games and once again features some really outstanding designs.

New LEGO Minecraft 2020

Last but not least we have more LEGO Minecraft. I know absolutely nothing about LEGO Minecraft, but seeing LEGO continuously pump out Minecraft sets just means that they’re selling pretty well.

    Hi Jay.

Any idea why some sets like the brickheadz aren’t showing as available on Aus site yet?

Will get all the Hidden Side and any of the Trolls sets that are suitable for my 7 year old. The modular bookstore I’ll save up for and get next year, as I still need to buy some older sets like the Corner Garage etc. The Tokyo Architecture set is looking good too.
