New Halloween 2020 Build a Minifigure parts!

With Halloween coming soon, LEGO stores around the world will soon get new Halloween-themed minifigure parts in their Build-a-Minifigure stations.

If you’re unaware, LEGO has been releasing minifigure parts/characters exclusively through the Build a Minifigure stations at LEGO Stores for some time now – check out the “Spring Edition” from earlier this year.

I live in Victoria, Australia, which means that our state has been in some form of lockdown due to Covid-19 and I haven’t been to a LEGO store in ages.

Thankfully, the Legoland Discovery Centre has an online shop which sells them, and I was able to order them and they arrived a few days ago.

They have the Halloween pack, Summer pack or a random selection. Shipping is fairly reasonable, especially if you don’t have a LEGO store nearby.

Otherwise, you’ll have to check your local LEGO store to see if these parts are already in the Build a Minifigure station.

Here’s a look at the blister pack that the minifigures come in.

Here’s a look at the new Tiger Cub minifigure, which is completely new and exclusive to LEGO Stores for now. It’s a kid dressed up in a Tiger costume (so technically, this should be a new addition to the Animal Suit minifigure sub-series) and is really adorable.

In addition to detailed printing across the torso and headpiece, the Tiger Cub also has orange face paint and whiskers which really makes it look like a Halloween-themed figure.

Here’s a look at the back printing, and the tail which also has tiger stripes on it. Sadly, the arms and legs don’t have tiger stripes which is a missed opportunity.

I love LEGO’s sense of continuity, as the Tiger Cub goes perfectly with the Monster-themed Series 14’s Tiger Woman – in my headcanon, they could be a mother and son/daughter going trick or treating together.

The next minifigure is this Warlock or Sorcerer, which has some interesting new re-coloured parts. I’m fairly sure that his torso, which has a skull necklace and a large belt is a new print.

He also has a new Witches hat headpiece, which has hair fused to it, coming in dark green for the first time. He comes with a pearl gold trident, which is an interesting choice for a weapon.

The wizard’s colour scheme reminds me of 7955 Wizard.

The curved dress piece in dark brown is also a fairly new element, only showing up this year with the Molly Weasley minifigure.

Last but not least is this Jack O Lantern skeleton, which is as Halloween as you can get. The Jack O’Lantern headpiece makes a welcome return, (last seen with 40351 Ghost Brickheadz.

It’s a great accessory that many will be happy to see in Build a Minifigure stations, and I imagine will be very popular in the leadup to Halloween.

Under the Pumpkin, is your standard skeleton head.

Unlike the first 2 minifigures, the parts with the Jack O’Lantern Skeleton aren’t new – and it shares the exact same torso and leg combination as Series 14’s Skeleton Guy.

I’m glad to see more interesting characters and parts introduced via Build-a-Minifigure, and the Tiger Cub especially will be very popular with collectors of Animal Suit minifigures.

If you’re lucky enough to be close to a LEGO Store with a Build a Minifigure station, it might be worth it to pay a visit and see if they have any of these.

With the pandemic and tighter hygiene requirements, I don’t expect Build a Minifigure stations to be operational or open, so hopefully LEGO stores will be pre-packaging these for sale. In any case, be safe and wear a mask when you go!
