LEGO 40417 Year of the Ox Availability Details

UPDATE: Read my review of 40417 Year of the Ox to see more, and the entire Chinese Zodiac animal series!

With the release of the new 2021 LEGO Chinese New Year sets, details surrounding this year’s Chinese Zodiac Animal promotional set, 40417 Year of the Ox have been pretty scant, but I can finally confirm that Australia will be getting it soon!

The release date for the 40417 Year of the Ox is set for 22 January 2021, and it will be available at LEGO Certified Stores, Legoland Discovery Centre and Myer as a gift with purchase – if it’s like previous year, the threshold should be AU$88, which is an auspicious number.

It’s now been confirmed that the Year of the Ox will be available worldwide on LEGO.com from 1-14 February 2021 with purchases of US$85 / £85, while stocks last.

Availability details for LEGO’s Online Shop, and in the US, UK and other countries are still TBD, but it might happen closer to Chinese New Year, which falls on 12 February 2021, so I’m expecting a 1 February GWP offer online.

Hope this helps with planning any upcoming purchases!

If you’re in South East Asia, the Year of the Ox is already available from LEGO Certified Stores in Malaysia and Singapore!

Check out these posts below for more details.

This year’s Chinese zodiac animal is the Ox, and it will join 6 other LEGO Chinese Zodiac Animals – the Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig and last year’s Rat – one year closer to completing the entire Zodiac Cycle!

I hope to get this in hand when it releases to add it to my collection, and for a review, so keep an eye out for that!

Crikeys, with how crazy popular Lego has gotten lately, I’m genuinely wondering if I’ll be able to get my hands on this one…!
Don’t want to miss out like I did with the Monkey. It makes me sad how much he’s going for now.

Should I wait for this to be available in the U.S. before I purchase my CNY set? I don’t buy Lego often and when I do, it’s usually a splurge.

I think it’ll be safe if you have a LEGO store nearby. Judging by how popular the CNY sets have been, there’s a really high chance that they’ll be out of stock before this becomes available, but if you have a nearby LEGO store, stock levels should be much easier to deal with. Hope that helps!
