It’s official: LEGO Pirates of Barracuda Bay has retired!
It’s now official – the LEGO Pirates of Barracuda Bay set has retired for good, thanks to a change in its status on the UK website.
In the US, the set is listed as discounted and out of stock, but in Australia it says Temporarily Out of Stock, which suggests that there might be a restock, but I would caution trusting anything the LEGO website has to say.
If you missed out, there’s still some stock in Australia – it’s even discounted slightly on Amazon Australia, but resellers have also jacked up pricing on Amazon.com due to its now retired status. If you’ve been thinking about this set, I highly recommend trying to pick one up now before its price inevitably skyrockets in the coming months.
This 2,545-piece love letter to classic LEGO Pirates had a lifespan of only 2 short years, after debuting on 1 April 2020, in the midst of a global pandemic and is widely considered to be one of the best modern LEGO sets to date.
It’s had a fantastic run, and I’ll be sad to see this set go, mostly because it has one of THE best packaging designs ever, calling back the vintage Legoland-era yellow and teal motifs.
Did you manage to get your hands on Pirates of Barracuda Bay before it retired? Would you like to see a sequel to this, perhaps an Imperial Base/Trading Post?
