The new LEGO Pick A Brick is now live, replacing Bricks and Pieces!

The new LEGO Pick and Build hub, a merger of LEGO’s previous popular Bricks and Pieces, and online Pick a Brick service is now live and operational, after several delays to the launch.

Here are the direct links to the new LEGO Pick a Brick section of the LEGO.com website*

It’s now available in most countries that had access to Pick a Brick/Bricks and Pieces, and features a more streamlined and user-friendly way to order an assortment of LEGO elements and pieces directly from LEGO.

Announced in January, you can check out the initial post for more information on why LEGO decided to merge Bricks and Pieces and Pick a Brick, and what’s coming up next.

So far, the experience seems to be a big improvement over the old LEGO Bricks and Pieces, with large images and thumbnails.

As it’s still the early phase of the rollout, some features aren’t working as they should, and you might encounter bugs. Search by Set Number for example, didn’t work as well for me.

There are also quite a large number of elements that are missing, so it’s unsure if they’ve been removed from Bricks and Pieces, or will be added later.

Best Sellers vs Standard

One of the major differences is that there is now a split between “Bestseller” and “Standard” elements. In short, Bestsellers are more “common” elements like 2×2 bricks, whereas “Standard” are more uncommon items.

There is a difference between the shipping time with

RegionBestsellerStandard
North America5 day shipping from Illinois (US$3.5 service fee for orders under US$14 11-15 day shipping from Denmark (US$7 service fee US$14)
Australia11-15 day delivery from Poland (AU$5 service fee for orders below AU$19)11-15 day delivery from Denmark (AU$10 service fee for orders below AU$19)
United Kingdom11-15 day delivery from Poland (£2.50 service fee for orders below £10)11-15 day delivery from Denmark (£5 service fee for orders below £10)

I really like being able to Search keywords, and the new filter system, with different Categories and Sub-Categories are really handy, although initially, there seems go be way too many Duplo elements strewn in, and I hope they’ll introduce a “no-Duplo” toggle if possible.

The search makes it much quicker to look up specific items, so if you wanted Sheep, all you need to do is search for Sheep, and you’re immediately presented with options.

The maximum limit for each element seems to be 999, so if you want to order almost a thousand sheep, you are free to do so.

List of new LEGO Parts and Elements 2022

If you want to check out what new parts have been made available this year, Wade Davey has kindly shared his PDF guides to all the new LEGO Parts and Elements that are made available on Pick a Brick/Bricks and Pieces each month.

Do note that the prices in the list are in Australian dollar (AUD).

For more analysis, you and deep dives into new elements, I also highly recommend following New Elementary, who specialise in identifying and geeking out over new LEGO elements.

‘Bestseller’ and ‘Standard’ have absolutely nothing to do with the popularity of an element and it’s purely down to where the product is located, a term Lego themselves tell me is very misleading and confusing for the customer. I complete lost my basket as they decided to close ‘standard’ elements partway through my order which was rather annoying.

  2. Neil says:

Not sure why, but every time I visit almost all items are out of stock, even plain bricks and plates. I can’t buy anything if I wanted to, there’s no stock.

Unfortunately, the Standard elements (which are shipped from the Billund warehouse in Denmark) have been temporarily paused as they are trying to get through a massive backlog of orders.

I believe they are about 5-8 weeks delayed, hence why they’ve had to pause taking orders to get through this.

      • David says:

Jay, have you heard any updates on the “Standard” service? The website still says expected to return in May, yet May is nearly over. I’d like to purchase bricks from LEGO instead of Bricklink (shipping and taxes add up!) but don’t know how long I’m willing to wait. Thanks for your insights!

There is a terrible glitch with LEGO’s new Pick A Brick and online shopping site. It won’t let me make a purchase. They saw that my browser and Cookies aren’t up to date. Sorry, but I made a small purchase of Pick A Brick plus I ordered the latest Dots set with no technical problems. Now it’s a problem. When I log into the shopping site, it tells me that I have a specific number of things in my cart but they tell me that my cart is empty. It won’t even allow me to order when I’m logged in.
LEGO seriously needs to address their technical issues because there’s absolutely nothing wrong on my end.

lots of pieces didnt migrate across from bricks and pieces.. i still have a b&p order “in warehouse” status from a month ago.. ordered it before the migration and i’m glad i did… half the stuff i ordered cant be found on PAB .

  5. Zach says:

Takes over a month to get a brick. Save your time and find a Lego store near you.

  6. Ovidius says:

There are alot of parts missing still, I hope they become available. I was shopping alot on pick a brick, now I can barely find anything that I need for my moc.

  7. Ari says:

Honestly, I’m not very happy about the change. I could have been if they had kept the amount of parts available in B&P in the new system but it isn’t the case.

Some new features are nice (as being able to search by word – even if some improvement could be made also there : for example : in friends a horse in called a horse, in system (city), a horse is called “animal n°…”)

I really hope more parts will be made available (especially the new ones of this year but also older one – like the chicken with red comb that has disappeared) later on.

And also, great blog Jay – excellent work !

  8. Gary Makin says:

There is definitely something wrong with the new service in Australia. The supposed best seller list contains a total of 22 elements, the majority being modified plates with clips. There are eight colours of 2 x 4 bricks, none in basic colours.

The service in Denmark has 1414 best seller elements and 28 colours of 2 x 4 bricks and they are all delivered from the same locations.

    • Jay says:

Yeah, it’s definitely incredibly buggy and this has been raised with LEGO.

As well as petitioning that new and “novelty” elements be restored.

  9. Curt says:

How do you access this from the Lego.com menu? Do I really have to save this link from your blog to get there forever?

  10. Ari says:

Honestly, I’m not happy. I would have been, if they had kept the parts selection available in B&P and use the interface of PAB but it’s not the case.

For example, i looked again at you order of B&P that you received a few days ago (you posted the pictures here). In the new system, you wouldn’t have been able to order at least half of your order.

So i really hope they expand the parts available.

PS : long time lurker but big fan of your blog ! Amazing work !

  11. Fiona says:

Thanks Jay – this is terrific (though not for my credit card)! The only thing I don’t like is that duplo animals are mixed in with normal lego, and many don’t state that they are duplo (such as the sheep you show).

    • Jay says:

Same! Hope this really does work with GWPs, which will make ordering much more satisfying.

I’ve sent feedback back to LEGO about a Duplo and even Technic filter, I agree it’s quite distruptive to see so many Duplo elements, especially if you’re just browsing/searching.

  12. Reader says:

Well I don’t know if it was related to the warehouse move like I commented before, but the timing seems to align. 🙂
But no matter! Been awaiting this for a month or two now. I took a sneak peek of the UK system and the PAB system is much easier to use than the B&P system.

Agree on Duplo – it would be good to have a way to filter it out. Would also be good to have a way to filter out Friends / Minidoll parts. I’ve no objections to them being included, but the way the pieces are presented, it’s not clear if some pieces are Lego or Duplo without consulting an external site. Duplo could probably have its own categories; there aren’t nearly as many Duplo parts as Lego parts.

    • Jay says:

This is slightly different, as stock still comes from overseas!

LEGO are still making tweaks, and collecting data, so I’m confident they’ll add these Quality of Life changes.

  13. GJBricks says:

Hooray! About time they did this. Will make ordering even more LEGO so much easier. Wait….

I am wondering though if this is the reason my last Brick & Pieces order from 3 weeks ago still hasn’t shipped. Lol. (The Pick a Brick part of the order has shipped though).

    • Jay says:

My orders from January took AGES to arrive. There’s apparently a huge backlog in Denmark, where most elements come from, so they’re working through it. That plus shipping delays..
