Review: 30625 Luke Skywalker with Blue Milk polybag

It’s a huge day for fans of the LEGO Star Wars videogame franchise as the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga comes out today (5 April 2022), after long, and well-documented series of delays.

Originally meant to release in in 2020 (!!), the development of the most ambitious LEGO Star Wars game yet have been plagued by all sort of issues, but we’re finally here, and long-suffering fans can finally boot it up on their console of choice and play.

I picked up my copy for the Nintendo Switch earlier today from my local EB Games, and like most LEGO video games, you get a small pre-order bonus for your troubles.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga’s pre-order bonus (also included in the Deluxe Edition) is the 300625 Luke Skywalker with Blue Milk polybag.

I can’t even remember the last time we got an exclusive LEGO Star Wars miniifigure in a polybag (Brickset says 2019’s 20th Annivesary Obi Wan was the last), so this feels like a throwback to simpler times when SW minifigure polybags were a more common occurrence.

Here’s the manual, which got a bit of a chuckle out of me, and is indicative of the game’s delays… every set featured here is now retired!

And here’s a look at the Luke Skywalker minifigure included. It’s an “exclusive” minifigure, in the sense that he has an exclusive dual-sided face print, with a Blue Milk moustache on it, and comes with an exclusive Blue Milk carton.

First seen in A New Hope, Blue Milk comes from Banthas and is Luke’s favourite beverage.

Here’s a look at Luke’s alternate face, which has a more quizzical look.

I’m not sure if this was just my copy, but there are very noticeable print lines on the hairpiece, which wasn’t present on the Advent Calendar version!

The torso and legs aren’t new, in fact, it’s similar to the version from the 2020 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, which is in itself, a carbon copy of the 2014 Star Wars Advent Calendar version.

Here’s a closer look at the Blue Milk carton, which is printed on a 1×1 brick.

There’s a Bantha illustrated on the carton, which is a twist on the regular LEGO Milk carton!

And here’s the Blue Milk Luke Skywalker minifigure alongside some other Luke Skywalker Variants, and of course his dad, Anakin.

Overall, I’m pleased to see exclusive LEGO Star Wars minifigures make a return in these polybags. Pre-orders and Deluxe Editions have sold out, so this will be quite a rare minifigure given how popular the game is, and given the positive critics reviews.

Kinda scary seeing the prices people are paying on eBay… so hopefully as more people receive theirs, the price will fall, but LEGO Star Wars minifigure collecting is all sorts of crazy now, so who knows?

If you want to get one, try finding a Deluxe Edition, or check your local game store for any cancelled pre-orders. It’s pretty slim, but you might just get one out of luck.

To everyone playing The Skywalker Saga, I hope you have a fantastic time!

Update: I got my order right away from EB Games and Luke was inside the box. Very happy.

Fantastic, lucky you! There are rumours that LEGO overproduced the polybag and it’ll be a May the 4th promo… but we’ll see. Have you started with the game?

I really wanted this Deluxe Edition and Mini-figure and actually got an order in on April 5th. But then Lego abruptly canceled my order today. So now I’m out of luck. The whole incident has really soured me on the Lego brand. Poor customer service considering I’ve spent thousands on sets over the years. I’ve never heard a business not honoring orders at least not in the US. I like Legos but the company seems unethical when it comes to fulfilling orders.

It happens at retailers all the time when things get over sold. That’s why you should pre-order early instead of waiting till release.

      • Eric says:

I don’t think so. Orders get filled that go through at any reputable company. I buy limited edition releases regularly. They always fill if your order goes through. If it doesn’t then that’s another matter. I’ve never heard of another company that accepts oversold orders. It’s bad business. I hope it doesn’t happens to others. Customer orders should be honored.

As far as I know LEGO wasn’t taking pre-orders. Amazon was, for a while, but the shipping date, when I saw it was December 2022 (I guess they didn’t know when it was going to be released). That seemed too far away for me at the time. By the time I saw the April 5 date, Amazon pre-orders were sold out. LEGO was sold out right away (before April 5 in my time zone). I was actually able to get a copy from Amazon the next day – I was sort of rage clicking the various sites I had been trying to order from because I was annoyed and clicked the “See All Buying Options” on Amazon’s page and one was available from them for the normal $70 price. I received it today, so lucky me, that never happens.

Anyway, I stand by my other reply that says LEGO should just make the figure available for a normal price to anyone. It would allow people who prefer digital copies of games to get the figure and it would cut the legs out from under everyone who’s hoping to sell the figure for $65-270(!) on BrickLink. The full game package is being offered on Amazon by 3rd party sellers for $135-180, but you can get it digitally for the normal $70 price, just without the figure. It’s one thing for sets only offered to employees or at Billund or at conventions to have high aftermarket prices, but this was just artificial scarcity.

I think it would be good if LEGO released this as a stand alone polybag at a normal price just to mess with all the BrickLink and eBay sellers who are price gouging this item. I know LEGO owns BrickLink now, so I assume they get a percentage of sales, but I would assume they’d make more just selling the minifig directly. Plus it would give all the people who prefer having a digital version of the game a chance to have the minifig.

I managed to order the deluxe version from EB Games. I LOVED playing the original LEGO SW games on my Xbox 360 and now i can enjoy it on my switch lite. My order said that the minifigure was included. So lets see if it comes in the mail! At least by spending a lot on the game I get the game if the figure doesn’t come, instead of paying those ebay prices for a minifigure! haha

Can I ask how it came packaged with the game case? Was it separate or stuck to the case?

Thanks for the post, I had no idea the game was out and there was this minifigure!

I got the PS5 deluxe edition and the figure is inside the box alongside the game disc. As a pre-order bonus here in Bulgaria, a Lego Snowspeedster 30384 was also included outside the box.
