Western Sydney’s first official LEGO Store opens in Westfield Penrith!

Western Sydney finally gets its very own LEGO Certified Store in Westfield Penrith, which opens its doors to the public today!

Special shoutout to HollyOnFilm for attending the VIP Preview event on my behalf to snap these pics!

This makes it New South Wales’ 5th LEGO Certified Store (after Bondi Junction, Charlestown, Broadway, Castle Towers), and will be a huge relief for those that live in the West, who won’t need to make the long journey East to get to a LEGO Certified Store.

The store is located on Level 2, and here’s a Google Maps link for directions.

This is one of the smaller LEGO Stores in New South Wales, but I think that shouldn’t deter those in Western Sydney as you still get all the usual amenities that you’d expect in a LEGO Store such as:

  • Pick a Brick Wall
  • Build a Minifigure station
  • Complete and widest range of LEGO sets available

Among the features and attractions exclusive to the Penrith store is this mosaic of The Three Sisters, Blue Mountains, made of 45,433 bricks.

There is also a large brick-built model of a Firefighter minifigure that’s made of 46,394 bricks.

On display are the latest and greatest launches such as 10305 Lion Knight’s Castle and the new 71408 Peach’s Castle to allow you to properly appreciate how these look in the flesh.

Looking at the photos of the shelves, opening weekend should be fun as there’s plenty of stock of some of the top August releases such as 75337 AT-TE™ Walker.

And if you’re headed there, be sure to keep an eye out for this massive Minions statue in Westfield Penrith!

Special thanks to HollyOnFilm for snapping the photos and the LEGO Certified Stores team for the VIP Night preview invite!

Lego stores are fun to visit and experience, but it doesn’t seem like there’s as much value in them — or at least, the ones in Australia. You don’t get VIP points (they have a separate system) or GWPs, and there are rarely discounts or offers. You’re better off shopping at Lego’s site for points or another retailer for discounts.

That aside, there are some interesting perks like pick a brick or build a minifigure. They may have stock you might not be able to get on Lego’s site. Last time I was in a store, there were was a large selection of Lego keyrings, including being able to engrave a keyring brick. Such extras seem to differ between stores.

I was a teenager from Kingswood when Penrith Mall first opened and it has certainly grown since then. Great to see this store opening – I foresee a busy time ahead for the staff there.
