LEGO 10308 Holiday Main Street officially revealed as the 2022 LEGO Winter Village set!

It’s that time of the year – we finally have the official reveal of the 2022 LEGO Winter Village set – 10308 Holiday Main Street.

LEGO’s quaint and rustic Winter Village’s latest addition now adds a bustling main street that contains two Festive Shops, Christmas-themed tram (or trolley), and a small street section.

10308 Holiday Main Street has a release date of 3 October 2022 for LEGO VIPs, and 7 October for everyone else and will retail for US$99.99 / AU$169.99 / £89.99. A very respectable price for a 1,514-piece set, and will be available from LEGO.com / LEGO Stores.

Now that we have official high-res images of 10308 Holiday Main Street out (as opposed to blurry, leaked images), it should hopefully give you a better idea of what to expect with the set.

Just like the holidays, the set is designed to be shared, having build together functionality, one of my favourite supplementary features that’s becoming a lot more common.

The 2 main structures consist of a music shop, and a toy shop operated by Santa. The Music Shop will be a favourite among fans, as the array of musical instruments on sale fits the Holiday/Winter Village theme really well.

LEGO have of course done Toy Shops before (the first Winter Village set was the Winter Village Toy Store, which was reissued almost identically in 2015), but this one in particular seems to be Santa Claus branded.

I guess Santa Claus is also getting into the direct-to-consumer trend and is now a willing and active participant in unfettered capitalism.

There is a small street section with a street sighn, postbox and contractually obligated Lamppost and Christmas tree.

And rounding up the build is an utterly delightful Christmas-themed streetcar/tram/trolley, that’s really the highlight of the set. It’s large, can easily fit all 6 minifigures included, and can be out with Powered Up elements to fully motorise it, and lit up with the LED Light element. Fitted.

Here’s a look at the 6 minifigures included – a tram driver, 2 shoppers, a young boy, and Music Shop and Toy Shop store owners.

10308 Holiday Main Street is designed by LEGO Creative Lead Jamie Berard who had this to say: “The annual LEGO Winter Village sets are one of my all-time favorite holiday traditions.  The Holiday Main Street brings together a whole downtown of activity and imagination into one set.  Building as an individual or as a family, you’ll discover a model with all the hustle and bustle of a festive shopping street – complete with trolley, snow topped shops and children posting letters. I especially like the brick-built toys in the toy shop and the super-cute mini-Christmas tree in the upper apartment.  They just make me smile.”

I think this is a really good Winter Village set, and I can’t wait to share my full thoughts and more photos when my review drops next week!

The buildings, if a little basic fit in really well thematically with the LEGO Winter Village, especially earlier editions which were much smaller than the recent Winter House and Gingerbread House.

LEGO have packed a lot into 10308 Holiday Main Street, and to have kept it at US$99.99 is remarkable. Some sacrifices have been made though as this is the first Winter Village since 10235 Winter Village Market without a light brick, but it doesn’t really feel needed here.

It feels really accessible, and is designed primarily for families and Winter Village fans, and isn’t necessarily for adults looking for a challenging build or a jaw-dropping display model.

10308 Holiday Main Street will be available on 3 October 2022 for LEGO VIPs, ahead of a 7 October general release from LEGO.com or your local LEGO Store.

    Hi Jay,

Can you tell me the components I need to power the tram please

    Thanks a bunch Susan

  2. Nic says:

    Thanks for the info!
Seems the motor 88009 is out of stock in Dk. However adding all the bits separately including tracks 60205 x 4 as you mentioned – it seems cheaper to get the freight train 60336 and canabalise it! Presume it’s the same motor?
    Nic

  3. In Europe and Australia this set is called Christmas High Street instead of Holiday Main Street. While the product images show “Main St.” printed on the tram. I wonder if they’ll get a different tile in their sets? I would guess not.

  4. Alex Nicholls says:

Oh, that’s such a disappointing set after the really good ones over the last few years. I think I’ll give this one a miss despite having collected them for the last four years. This is definitely a step down from the fantastic gingerbread house from a few years ago.

    • Jay says:

Gingerbread House is an outstanding set, and possibly the best in the series. No mistake that I gave it a perfect 5/5!

It’s interesting how divisive this one has been, and I’m not surprised given that it’s a more “lo-fi” design compared to the last few Winter Village sets.

  5. Linda says:

    I think it’s a fantastic looking set.

Thanks for the heads up on this set, as I’ve been waiting and waiting for news on an official release date. I didn’t even know what the set would be either, as I like to be surprised about what Christmas set lego will release each year. I’ve only been collecting this theme for three or four years now, but as my wife and family love anything that’s Christmas themed, I definitely can’t stop collecting these sets now, as I’d end up with coal in my Christmas stocking!!! 😉

    • Jay says:

Amazing! These sets are certainly the highlight of my year as well, and I really love getting them all out closer to Christmas to display them all together.

Hope you enjoy building this one with your family!

  7. Andrew says:

Yeah, we’re hooked on Winter Village, so it would be a buy from me even if it were just a plain grey Bunnings Warehouse with snow on the roof. Not sure the aesthetic fits with most of the older sets though, and the buildings are very thin in comparison to say the Cottage or the original Toy Shop. Love the tram, this could have been the centrepiece IMHO.

The theme has now been going for 13 years – It’s interesting to display these newer sets alongside the earlier models and compare techniques and design standards.

Small price rise to $A170 here but it seems worth it. I suppose it would compare with Hogsmeade (which it would sit well with in the Village).

    • Jay says:

After putting the set together, I can safely say that it does match the aesthetic and scale, especially of the older Winter Village sets. It does seem a bit more “simple”, and doesn’t have as much rustic charm, but it opens up the Winter Village quite a bit with the commercial Main Street element.

  8. Andrew Gardiner says:

I had decided after last year’s Santa’s Visit that I wouldn’t be buying any more Winter Village sets but this looks like a must buy. That tram looks too good to miss. Maybe some of the City Advent Calendar items could be useful here too.

  9. Gina says:

Yep, coming home with me 😊

  10. Jennifer says:

I love it. I’m so excited!

  11. Katelyn says:

Wow! I really like this one!
