Could we finally get Mario minifigures? LEGO Super Mario announcements Mar10 Day
Nintendo have announced a slate of Mar10 Day (Mario Day) announcements, and part of this celebration of all things Super Mario, we will also be getting some LEGO news!
There’s a big reveal planned on LEGO’s Youtube channel on 10 March 2023 at 3AM AEDT / 5pm CET / 11am EST / 8am PST (see your local time here) with some exclusive content being prepared as well.
With the upcoming premiere of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, I can’t help but think that we may see some movie tie-in sets or themes in the works.
LEGO have a strong relationship with Nintendo, and Illumination/Universal as well, with LEGO’s successful Super Mario theme, and previous movie tie-ins like Minions, so I can’t help but set my expectations up for finally getting minifigure-scale Super Mario sets based on the movie.
There’s been plenty of LEGO Super Mario Bros movie merchandise that have been starting to show up in toy stores, and they look pretty good.
I can’t imagine why LEGO wouldn’t get first dibs on construction toys based on the Super Mario Bros. movie given their close relationship with Universal.
Rewinding the clock, last year for Mario Day, we got a look at the introduction of Princess Peach and the entire slate of Summer 2022 LEGO Super Mario sets, so it’s safe to also expect more LEGO Super Mario sets.
While I’m making predictions, if minifigure Mario sets doesn’t exactly pan out, I also predict that we’re going to see some sort of Mario Kart tie-in, whether it’s brick-built courses, or karts that work with the existing Mario, Luigi and Peach figures.
Maybe a large or medium-sized brick-built Mario Kart display piece with a name plaque?
Be sure to tune in to LEGO’s Youtube channel on 10 March 2023 at 2AM AEDT (11 March) / 4PM CET / 11AM EST / 8AM PST for the big reveal!
What do you think we’ll get from LEGO and Nintendo’s announcement and what would you like to see?
