Review: LEGO 41735 Mobile Tiny House

For my next 2023 LEGO Friends review, I decided to take a look at 41735 Mobile Tiny House, a charming little build featuring Paisely, LiAnn and Leo who head out into the wilderness and camp in a tiny house.

It’s a delightful set that feature hallmarks of the LEGO Friends theme – camping, the outdoors and a cosy home, but wrapped in a brand new form thanks to this house-on-the wheels concept.

There’s a lot to unpack with the set: is this a sign that housing affordability in Heartlake City is deteriorating? Aren’t these meant to be kids just starting high school? Why/how are they driving this? Did they just borrow Paisley’s home for a weekend camping trip?

Without further ago, let’s take a look at 41735 Mobile Tiny House – one of the most memorable and unique sets of the theme, that’s fast becoming my favourite of the 2023 LEGO Friends lineup so far!

Here’s a look at the sticker sheet included. Like all LEGO Friends sets, the stickers included are part of the theme’s DNA and generally feature cartoony and vibrant graphics. There are some nice stickers here, such as the empanadas, and bedsheets featuring each of the characters’ signature motifs.

41735 Mobile Tiny House Minidolls

Three minidolls are included in the set – Leo, the talented chef who’s also a star football player, Paisley who considers herself shy, but is secretly a classically trained multi-instrumentalist, and Liann, an artistic and easily-distracted skater.

It’s a decent number for a set at this price-point, but I think I would’ve liked to have at least one more minidolls – maybe a park ranger or random hiker would’ve been nice, but it’s still a good mix of 3 out of the 8 main characters.

I particularly like Paisley, with her awesome new hair that uncovers part of her face, which can be interpreted as her looking shy, but she also comes with these new flaired minidolls pants, with shoes poking out slightly.

The animal department on the other hand is fantastic with 4 animals included. We get 2 woodland critters, a brown squirrel and a bluish gray rabbit, and 2 named Pets, Churro, the chonky cat that belongs to Leo, and Popcorn, Liann’s yellow salamander.

The rabbit and squirrel are nice additions, as they’re animals that you can expect seeing in the wilderness, and are staples of the LEGO Friends theme, but the LEGO Friends design team have also introduced some new innovations for us in 2023.

A big change with LEGO Friends animals this year is the presence of more expressions – the brown squirrel included in the set features a winking face, and here’s a comparison with a regular brown LEGO Friends squirrel.

It’s a relatively minor thing that not many people might notice, but is a pretty fun one as it gives the animals a bit more personality, and for animal collectors, more variants to collect.

Here’s a closer look at Churro, which is a chubby cat with an adorable grumpy look on his face. It’s one of my favourite new animal moulds introduced, and I just love how well designed it is, and the little lumps and folds across his body.

41735 Mobile Tiny House Build

Here’s the completed build. For a mid-range priced set, the build went by quickly, but I still enjoyed the varied building experiences – from a slice of nature, to a car, to the Tiny House/Mobile Home.

The end result however really stands out, and I loved how practical yet fantastical the Tiny House looks like, and how complete of a set it is.

The campsite is a really nice touch, and I liked that it’s large enough, with even space for some coniferous trees in the Friends-style to establish the scenery.

There are log stools around a large log fire, which the LEGO Friends characters can use to cook and roast sausage.

There are these little sausage skewers that Churro can feast on.

Here’s a look at the orange car included, that’s more of an SUV, as it probably needs enough towing power and torque to adequately pull the Tiny House on wheels.

It’s a fairly standard LEGO Friends design, with nice purple rims and accents on the orange, and I was quite impressed by how well-constructed it was, as it survived a fall and only the roof popped out.

On the inside is a nice stickered tile with a smart display featuring navigation maps, and a music player.

But other than that, it’s nothing too much to shout about. It is a bit of a tight fit for all 3 minidolls, but I guess some of them can just hang out in the house while they’re driving.

Speaking of which, are Leo, Liann and Paisley even old enough to drive?

Here’s a look at the Tiny House or Mobile home that’s attached via a towbar. It’s got a really great design, looks quite rustic and lived in with the wooden body, and plants growing on the roof, but at the same time, has some modern features like solar panels on the roof.

It looks like it’s fully designed to be lived in, and not just as a holiday caravan, as there’s even a postbox, and a house number.

I really wonder who’s home is this, as it can’t be Paisley as she has her own house, Liann has a bedroom, and Leo has his own too.

Anyway, the door is one of the newer ones with a pet flap on it – Churro, as large and portly as he is can fit through the door easily.

Here’s a look at the roof which has a window, solar panels on both sides, and plenty of foliage growing on it, which gives it a really rustic look.

Here’s a look at the other side of the tiny home, where there’s a hanging pot, and a small ladybug hiding away, as well as more windows.

There’s a panel that folds out and transforms into outdoor seating, with 3 cushions on this side.

Here’s a better look at the towbar, and a water tank. There’s a really simple but effective clip-based locking mechanism to keep the house closed.

And here’s a closer look at the lock. The presence of the lock sticker is also a really great touch.

Now, time to open the Tiny House, which is a lot larger on the inside that you’d expect!

Firstly, the roof opens up while the house is snapped shut, which offers an easy way to get to the upper level bedroom. Despite being a tiny house, there’s space for 3 mattresses, pillows, a side table and lamp and even a small area for Popcorn the Salamander to live!

This is also a really handy compartment to store the minidolls and animals when you’re done playing with it, and the roof offers easy access to them. For girls or boys that will roleplay with the set, it’s also a fantastic way to “put the characters to sleep” and close up and conclude play.

And here’s a look at popcorn’s living quarters, which has some leaves and even a water bottle!

Here’s the Tiny House when it fully opens up, revealing a slightly crammed but complete living quarters. I was honestly impressed at just how well designed this is, and how well each little millimetre of space is used, with little to no wastage in sight.

There’s a fully functioning toilet, and a sink, which is also connected to the water tank outside. Guess they’ll have to shower outside, but going on the toilet does give you some beautiful views of the outdoors thanks to windows on each side.

Here’s a look at some of the bedsheets, which have items on that that correspond with the colour and interests of each character. Liann has a notebook, and pencils. and Paisley’s has sheets of music.

Here’s a look at the fully-stocked kitchen which while a little narrow has a stove, oven and even a large regrigerator and storage as well.

There are some empanadas that Leo has probably whipped up, and I love seeing more diverse and international food options come up in Heartlake City.

There’s even the new fridge/cabinet included in orange.

And to prove just how insanely well-planned and designed this Tiny House is, here’s a look at Churro’s living quarters where he has his own bed, food and water, as well as a cat scratching post.

While it might look small on the outside, I was definitely impressed by just how livable and usable the space inside is, even it’s a little cramped at points.

The Kitchen is a little narrow, and there are no studs on the floor, so Leo will have to balance himself and squeeze in to prepare his food. Thankfully, he’s also a good athlete and is reasonably limber.

What I liked:

• Lots of varied fun packed into this set
• Decently-priced for what you get, especially if its on sale
• Above-average selection of animals and minidolls
• Incredible use of space in the Tiny House
• Very playable and ideal for younger kids

What I didn’t like: 

• Could’ve used an extra minidoll
• Car colour could’ve been a little more muted and less orange

Final Thoughts:

Despite going on strong for 10 years or more, it impressed me that LEGO Friends can continue to innovate with set designs like 41735 Mobile Tiny House.

It riffs on the Tiny-House Movement, which is pretty trendy, especially post-pandemic and most of all delivers a great play experience with everything you could want in a Friends set.

This is a superbly designed toy, as it can do almost everything, thanks to a vehicle and house on wheels providing movement and dynamism – my one and a half year old is car-obsessed and couldn’t stop trying to grab the car.

There is a campsite with some wilderness area, and most importantly, the Tiny House opens up to reveal cramped yet usable living zones that feel so much bigger, especially once you open it up wide.

I was really impressed that there are sleeping quarters, a fully kitchen, and even a toilet, which are amenities you’d expect from a full-sized home like 41730 Autumn’s House, but the designers managed to work wonders and squeeze it all into a tiny footprint that’s on wheels!

There’s honestly not a lot that I don’t like about the set, but I do wish that we had gotten at least one more minifigure that’s connected to the campsite, but it doesn’t really negatively impact the whole package.

This is one of my favourite mid-ranged LEGO Friends 2023 sets, and the Jay’s Brick Blog CFO (Chief Friends Officer) aka my daughter also highly approves of it, and it’s been a joy seeing her ferry minidolls from her “home base” in her room, to other parts of the house to play with and go camping.

Build [4] – Nice variety throughout with nature, a vehicle and a home on wheels
Real Value [3] – It might look small, but it packs a ton of play value in the form of the house, minidolls and animals. A great buy when it goes on sale.
Innovation [4] – Really clever set based on Tiny Houses and Mobile Homes that feels fresh
Coolness [4] – I adore just how fun it is as a concept, and how the colours mostly work together
Keepability [4] – This makes for a great play-piece, and as it’s small, the Tiny House doesn’t take up too much space and can even double as a permanent home!
