LEGO Gundam, Spirited Away, Brooklyn Nine Nine and more could be a future LEGO Ideas set

LEGO Ideas has just announced that 48 product ideas have qualified for the First 2024 LEGO Ideas review!

These products have all garnered 10,000 votes, and the LEGO Ideas team will now deliberate on which project(s) will qualify to be turned into a future LEGO Ideas set!

We won’t find out the results of this until Autumn 2024 so we’ll have to wait to find out the results of this review round. In case you missed it, the recent review round saw a Minifigure Prize Machine and Western River Steamboat being greenlit.

There are a lot of solid Ideas here, and my personal favourite picks are SPIRITED AWAY LEGO GUNDAM and/or MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO. Notice a trend? I think it’s about time LEGO embraced anime in a serious manner, and I think any of these would work great to bring in new fans, but also delight LEGO’s core audience.

What Ideas from this round do you think will be approved? Let me know in the comments!

  1. James Haley says:

Gundam, The Grinch, and Medieval Inn are the most interesting to me.

  2. Tico Machi says:

Lego never passes anything anime, so Hello Kitty, Totoro, Spirited Away and Gundam are right out (even though the Gundam model works perfectly in Lego and I’d love to see it). The plant ones are out because it competes with Legos existing plant line. The chess one is too similar to their new chess set. There are a number of licensed ones I don’t see Lego going for. And a bunch of the others are too big.

The ones I figure that have the best shot are the rock collection, record player, walkman, lizards and MAYBE the art of Japan one (my personal favorite of that bunch).

The one I’d most love to get is the Outer Wilds set. It is my all time favorite game, and they designed it perfectly. I know though that it is too niche, and won’t be made.

  3. Terrence Meyers says:

As a fan of Brooklyn Nine Nine, I hope it makes it. They’ve done a 3 sitcoms already, all from lego ideas, it’s probably got a decent chance.

  4. Hassan AL-Janahi says:

SPIRITED AWAY or THE ART OF JAPAN

  5. Chris Felstead says:

    Hi Jay

When you say Autumn do you mean Northern Autumn?

  6. Katelyn Mackay says:

I love so many of the designs this round and have watched many since their beginning. I wish there was a way fans could vote for the final round or at least have a say, some sadly I think are too big to be created 🙁

  7. These are actually really nice loved the Scooby-Doo one

  8. Wayne Ellis says:

Wizard of Oz and Finding Nemo sets are my 2 favorite but there are many more sets that I’d like to become reality. The Roman Forum, Jelly fish, and Scooby Doo sets are my next favorites

  9. John Ballentine says:

Exactly. Looking at the selection, I don’t see any of them being made. If I had to guess, it would be “highland cow” or a massively simplified “canal boat” for ~$200…

  10. Jeff W. Carpenter says:

Pick out the two you think are the worst, and likely you will already know the two that will be chosen. While their two last selections were awesome, I still have lost all hope for this program.
