Check out the online LEGO Shop’s new look!

New LEGO Site - Home Page

This was a bit of surprise! As I was browsing the internet doing some research for an upcoming review, I stumbled upon the brand new LEGO online shop and it is looking quite slick! This facelift is very welcome as the old LEGO store has been looking quite dated and was horrible to use on mobile.

Functionality-wise, LEGO’s digital team is promising improved search functions, a better mobile experience, and generally easier navigation. Check out the video below that LEGO have put together to let you know what you can expect with the new LEGO Shop.

New LEGO Online Store - Set Dropdown Menu

Functionality-wise, here’s a look at the new “Sets” dropdown menu where you can explore different themes. It works mostly like the old site but it’s so much easier to click on individual themes as they’re further spaced apart.

New LEGO Online Store - Exclusives Home

There are a few more dropdown menus. Of note is that there’s a new Exclusives Home so it’s easier for you to find LEGO Exclusives. This is especially useful for us Australians since the online LEGO Shop is one of the few ways we can get access to exclusives on-time, rather than waiting months for them to arrive at retail. Or never at all, like the Temple of Airjitzu.

New LEGO Online Store - New Product Page

Here’s what the new product pages look like.

New LEGO Online Store - Extras

There are a few more dropdown menus such as for Extras for everything else that isn’t a regular LEGO set. It’s interesting that LEGO Minifigures are also housed here and in the “Sets’ section as well.

New LEGO Online Store - Bricks Dropdown

There’s a section for Bricks as well if you would like to buy loose bricks although Bricks and Pieces is conspicuously missing. Guess they don’t really want people exploiting that part of the site if they make it too easy for them to find.

New LEGO Online Store - Retired Home

New LEGO Online Store - Retired Sets

One of the most fascinating parts of the new site is the Retired Products section under the Discover dropdown. In here, you can browse some of the more recent Retired LEGO products. Y’know, in case you ever wanted to kick yourself for not buying The Tumbler when it was AU$330.

New LEGO Online Store - LEGO VIP Dashboard

The VIP section also has a fresh look. I really like the dashboard where it’s easy to see how many points you have at your disposal.

The biggest (and best) improvement for me is their mobile shopping experience. Read: it doesn’t suck at all now. I tried browsing on my phone and tablet and it was a breeze going through the different sections of the site which is a HUGE improvement over the way it used to be.

I look forward to putting the mobile set through its paces for my next online purchase. Please join me in welcoming LEGO’s e-commerce capabilities to 2016! It’s a really positive move from LEGO and I’m a already a big fan of the new look.

So what do you think of the LEGO Online Shop’s new look? Let me know in the comments section!

I really like the look, but it will take some getting used to 🙂

However, I used to check out the ‘best sellers’ section every few days, as that really interested me. I cannot find it on the new store, so if anyone finds it, can they please let me know. Thanks in advance 🙂
