First look and my initial (maybe giddy) thoughts on the Summer Marvel Lego Sets!

Wow, I was just going to roll off to bed when this blipped up on my RSS feed!

Took the images of Marvel’s websites, but these are the first shots of this Summer’s Marvel Lego tie ups and they look AMAZING!

6865 – Captain America’s Avenging Cycle

Buy Status: YES

First up, we get Steve Rogers himself in Lego form on his bike, which I assume is for avenging stuff! This set seems to be the entry level set, similar to DC’s Catwoman Catcycle City Chase and it looks cool, however, a bit disappointed that the detailing are all stickers. I also didn’t like that they used a plain Lego head for Captain America. I’d rather them give him a proper helmet, but oh well, I’ll definitely be picking this one up!

6867 – Loki’s Cosmic Cube Escape

Buy Status: Probably not

No sign of the Cosmic Cube in this photo, but we do get a pretty good look at Loki, Iron Man and Hawkeye. Love Loki’s elaborate antennae! Love Hawkeye’s sick bow. And I most of all love Iron Man!  I might skip out on this as the rest of the minifigs are available in the next set. Oh by the way, Iron Man’s mask FLIPS UP to reveal Tony Stark’s face. HOW COOL IS THAT. Can’t wait till we get pictures of that!

6869 – Quinjet Aerial Battle

Buy Status: Maybe!

This looks like an awesome set and you get a whole boatload of minifigs including Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow, Loki and others. I love Lego jet planes, so this is going to be quite tough to decide on, but the fact that the minifigures also appear in the next set make this set not that appealing. But knowing me, I’ll still get it because it’s an awesome jet! And you get Iron man… so yeah.

6868 – Hulk’s Helicarrier Breakout

Buy Status: Most likely!

Well, I’ll most definitely be getting this one, because you get THE HULK and Thor and it looks like a nice little playset. You also get a small plane as well. But c’mon, The Hulk! It’s pretty much a no-brainer! Let’s just hope Lego doesn’t overload with the stickers on this one (hah! Fat chance of that happening)

Final Thoughts

So here we go, the lineup of The Avengers in Lego form unveiled. I like the fact that you have to assemble to Avengers since they’re Lego.. Haha. Overall, the sets do look kind of underwhelming, I was expecting a little more than a jeep, a few planes and stuff, but I’m sold on the minifigs. Having pop culture icons such as Marvel characters immortalized as Lego is always a win win.

Pictures lifted from Marvel’s website here! Head on over there to check out the official descriptions of the sets!

Can’t wait!
