LEGO 76391 Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons Collector’s Edition celebrates 20 years of LEGO Harry Potter

2021 has been a massive year for LEGO Harry Potter with the 20th anniversary of the theme, and to cap an illustrious year off, LEGO have unveiled 76391 Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons Collection – an intricate display model and a brilliant homage to the Boy Who Lived.

Update: Read my review of 76391 Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons to find out what I thought of the set. Spoiler warning: it’s magical

The set, as its name suggests features buildable objects and icons from Harry Potter’s wizarding life at Hogwarts, with an absolutely breathtaking LEGO model of Hedwig, clutching a Hogwarts acceptance letter.

As a bonus, the set also includes 3 exclusive Golden 20th Anniversary Harry Potter minifigures – Albus Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall and Rubeus Hagrid, to complete the collection. The set was designed by Marcos Bessa.

The 3,010 piece set will be priced at US$249.99 / AU$399.99 and has a release date of 2 September 2021, where it will be available from LEGO.com or your local LEGO store.

See below for regional links and pricing:

Here’s a look at the box, which is surprisingly large in person – from the official photos, it’s really hard to get a good sense of the scale of this set, but I’ve received an early review copy from LEGO and this is quite a large exclusive set. Not as large or hefty as the Hogwarts Castle, but there’s a LOT in the set.

It wouldn’t be a 20th anniversary Harry Potter set without the golden minifigures, and the Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons set comes with Albus Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall and Rubeus Hagrid.

Albus Dumbledore even has a special Famous Wizards Chocolate Frog Card frame for his stand.

Here are the contents of the Hogwarts Icons, which are all brick-built – lending further credence to my theory that 2021 is all about LEGO brick-built objects.

These are all artifacts and items that span Harry’s years and adventures while at Hogwarts

  • Harry’s wand and glasses
  • Chocolate frog
  • A tray of potions and ingredients
  • Tom Riddle’s diary
  • Golden Snitch
  • Hogwarts scarf
  • A letter to Hogwarts

The brick-built bottles of potions and ingredients are one of the highlights of the set. They include: powdered root of Asphodel, Gillyweed, Polyjuice Potion, Wormwood Infusion, and Felix Felicis, better known as Liquid Luck.

Hedwig is the absolute highlight and centrepiece of the set, and her intricate brick-built design makes last year’s 75979 Hedwig set look absolutely primitive.

It’s just about life-sized and is an absolute blast to put together, and looks absolutely brilliant.

As an added bonus, there’s also a mode where you can get Hedwig from The Deathly Hallows where her whole body is blasted to smithereens by a Death Eater.

Kidding… but I found this lifestyle photo above quite morbid.

For LEGO Harry Potter fans, this set is an absolute dream, combining really challenging and fresh building techniques, with an awesome set of items for display, and all the little nods and references to Harry Potter’s Hogwarts journey.

It’s a really refreshing set and also showcases just how far you can stretch with a license, and a great reminder of what’s possible with LEGO bricks.

With 3 exclusive golden Harry Potter 20th Anniversary minifigures, this is almost a must-buy for LEGO Harry Potter fans, so best start saving those galleons!

This is a fantastic set, and I can’t wait to be able to share my full review and thoughts on the set soon, so keep an eye out for it!

What do you think of the LEGO Hogwarts Icons Collection? Will you be adding this to your LEGO Harry Potter collection?

76391 Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons Collector’s Edition will be available on 2 September 2021, and will retail for US$249.99 on LEGO.com and your local LEGO store.

Are the letters and potion labels printed or stickers?

  2. Ed says:

You mention one of the books is Tom Riddle’s diary, but there are three books. Are the others just generic spell books, or textbooks, or something?

Wonderful set, I expect a quickly depleted inventory because even the non-Potter fans like me are impressed.

OMG! This is fabulous – and I’m not a huge Harry Potter lego collector. Hedwig is magnificent – cannot resist him. I wonder how much people are spending on lego during Covid – Lego really need to stop making such great sets – I’m going to go broke….

    • Wim Goris says:

Agreed !…. Too much cool stuff coming out lately. I also have both new Creator Cars lined up as well…

Really torn on this. Looks absolutely stunning, but I have more than enough Lego HP, and I don’t event collect it.

Who am I kidding, just a shame Galleons don’t grow on trees …

  6. Nancy says:
