Humpback Whale and Baby Green Sea Turtle cross 10,000 votes on LEGO Ideas!

It’s not all Shrek Swamps that are getting the attention on LEGO Ideas, this week 2 incredibly unique marine-themed sets also crossed the 10,000 vote mark – Les Briques de Loïc’s Humpback Whale, and QuaintWolf082’s Baby Green Sea Turtle – Kinetic.

These 2 builds are wildly different, and stand out against a sea of other successful 10k LEGO Ideas projects.

Both these Product Ideas will now proceed to the next Review Round, where the LEGO Ideas team will deliberate and determine whether any of these projects will ultimately get turned into an official LEGO Ideas.

In case you missed it, I’ve just reviewed the next LEGO Ideas set, 21338 A-Frame Cabin, so be sure to check that out if you haven’t already!

The project that really stood out to me is this stunningly beautiful Humpback Whale design, which is inspired by paper-cutting art, allowing it to create depth and volume from a 2D image.

I just love the simplicity of it, and most importantly, the great palette of colours used make this such a mesmerising image.

It’s pretty unique, and something I’d buy in a heartbeat, so fingers crossed this set makes it!

Closer to home, we have another Australian hitting 10,000 votes in QuaintWolf082’s Baby Green Sea Turtle – Kinetic.

It’s a delightful and really well-designed Baby Green Sea Turtle, with some impressive details and techniques used to re-create the Sea Turtle’s subtle curves and shape.

On the Product Idea’s page, there’s even a video which brings the Sea Turtle to life, which is just the extra bit of x-factor a product idea needs, to help it stand out from the crowd.

LEGO has a bit of a love affair with brick-built animals at the moment, so combined with a lovely message on conservation, and protecting our precious oceans and marine life within them, I could see this one having a shot, and be reasonably successful as well.

Congratulations again to both builders for crossing the 10,000 vote mark, and all the best in the review round!

Do any of these LEGO Product Ideas appeal to you? Let me know if you’d like to see either one as an official LEGO set!
