Closer look at 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol from the 2023 LEGO Indiana Jones wave

Another day, another trickle of LEGO Indiana Jones sets ahead of their official reveal. Thanks to LEGO’s Hungarian Facebook page, we now have a closer and more detailed look at 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol through a selection of Lifestyle photos shared.

Update: Check out the official reveal and more photos of the 2023 LEGO Indiana Jones sets!

After the sneak peek of the three 2023 LEGO Indiana Jones sets, which were admittedly very low-res, we now have a closer look at the 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol set, which at 1,545-pieces is the largest and most detailed set of the wave, complete with an 18+ adults box design.

Here’s a closer look at the minifigures from 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol which include a Hovitos Warrior, René Belloq, Indiana Jones with the golden Fertility Idol and Satipo, who all look to have sharply printed torsos and expressive heads.

From this photo, we can also get a better look at the new Indiana Jones fedora, which has a darker band, as well as hair fused to it, which I think looks terrific and a step up from the previous Indiana Jones hat.

A few play features are also shown off which will delight fans – this include the massive rolling boulder, which appears to be spinning, suggesting that there’s a fun mechanism here that will allow you to spiin the boulder and have the characters run from it, allowing you to re-create the iconic scenes from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Here we also have Satipo hanging from vines and swinging across a chasm.

Unfortunately, one slightly disappointing detail is that the Raiders of the Lost ark logo, and quotes from the diorama are stickers. This is a first, as previous Star Wars diorama sets and even the Jurassic Park T.rex diorama had printed quote plaques.

At least the printed round 2×2 tiles on the dials with the skulls look to be printed.

It looks to be a fairly sizable display set as well, and I think looks fantastic especially with all the play features built into it, which transforms it into a really dynamic diorama set that blends both playability with displayability.

Again – this hasn’t technically been officially been unveiled by LEGO just yet, so global pricing and release dates haven’t been confirmed yet, but expect these in April 2023.

With so many sneak peeks of this set and accidental early sales of the sets in the US – the official reveal is surely close, but this has been such a strange rollout for what is one of the most anticipated theme revivals from LEGO.

Stay tuned for the official release for more information and detailed photos to pore over!

I won’t be picking this up, BUT if I was, I’d leave off the label stickers. I’m not a huge fan of those, and would rather keep the set sleeker looking, in a sense. I wonder if people like me factored into the sticker decison?

I have a bit of an adventure bay shelf going, with ideas barracuda bay and the treehouse as highlights..

I think this set will go really well among those.

That’s the only one of the wave i want though, specifically because the other two are not so good. I just discovered buying entire waves for the first time with avatar, and im so sad to be tearing myself away from the idea after how poorly that turned out (and these sets look like the have the same properties).
