Sneak peek at the new 2023 LEGO Indiana Jones sets!

March 9, 2023 By Jay Ong 20 Comments

Thanks to Dutch retailer Brickshop, I’m now able to share some really grainy and low-res photos of three upcoming LEGO Indiana Jones sets featuring scenes from Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade.

Update: Check out the official reveal and more photos of the 2023 LEGO Indiana Jones sets!

With Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role as Indiana Jones in the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny movie, LEGO has decided to bring back the legendary theme one more time, which is great news for those that were too young or in their dark ages during the original Indiana Jones run.

Three sets have been revealed so far, with more based on the new movie presumably coming in the second half of the year.

  • 77012 Fighter Plane Chase – US$34.99 / AU$49.99 / £29.99 / €34.99 / CAD$44.99
  • 77013 Escape from the Lost Tomb – US$39.99/ AU$59.99 / £34.99 / €39.99 / CAD$49.99
  • 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol – US$149.99 / AU$239.99 / £129.99 / €149.99 / CAD$199.99

Hopefully we get the official reveal soon with more high resolution images for us to pore over, especially as some US stores have been found selling these sets early, which suggests the 1 June 2023 release date on the Brickshop website is inaccurate.

Wow, this looks just like the Adventurers theme from the 90s. I guess they were ripping off Indiana Jones then and this time around they managed to get licensing.

There’s been a bunch of – possibly somewhat conspiratory – theories that the set has been struck down due to its depiction of Indians, or the inclusion of a Kali statue, a goddess still widely worshipped in India.

Anyway, personally it’s my least favorite Indy movie, including Crystal Skull, but I realize that there are many that have nostalgic memories of it.

I built the Well of Souls when the first Indiana Jones sets came out. For the
first time, I like something I made better than the LEGO designers.

Because they would reveal story and the word id that they have done reshoots etc. So sets can’t really be designed and made if they dont end up being in the film.
These sets cushion the blow and pad out the time. I think for Dial of Destiny the sets might be a post film reveal.

Did you know that Fiona, the @lego Friends florist Did you know that Fiona, the @lego Friends florist is one of the first minidolls depicted with Down Syndrome?

Fiona works at the flower stall on Unity Street from 41732 Friends Downtown Flower and Design Stores

She is described as being 'good at crafts and decorating, and knows all the flower species by name.'

It's World Down Syndrome Day today and I think it's remarkable and very important for LEGO to enhance the perspectives of children on neurodiversity, physical disabilities, ethnicity and mental health, as they've done with the LEGO Friends reboot.

This set is a dream come true for many Pixar fans, and we finally get a cute, compact and great looking Up House.

It has plenty of references to the movie, and Carl's everlasting love of Ellie, his late-wife which will absolutely delight fans.

Despite a strong lineup of minifigures (including an awesome Dug mould), the set's incredibly expensive pricetag (US$59.99/AU$89.99) doesn't feel like good value, especially with Kevin nowhere to be found.

It will be a GWP when you spend US$70 / €70 / £65 from 16 March - 9 April.

Lots of things to like here, as the design is cute, and the build is surprisingly technical, and it blends both Botanical and Animal construction.

Also like that the redemption period stretches into April, so if you have the Indiana Jones, Disney 100, or Guardians of the Galaxy sets on your radar, it should be an easy one to qualify for!

Such a breath of fresh air to get such a substantial GWP without having to spend hundreds of dollars. More like this please, LEGO!
