Complete look at the new 2023 LEGO Indiana Jones sets… minus the cancelled Temple of Doom

After an early look this week, LEGO have finally unveiled the entire 2023 LEGO Indiana Jones range featuring sets and iconic scenes from Raiders of the Lost Ark and the Last Crusade.

Update: Check out my review of 77013 Escape from the Lost Tomb!

The LEGO Indiana Jones sets has a release date of 1 April 2022 globally, and will be available from LEGO.com, LEGO Stores and most major retailers.

Here’s are the product page links and regional prices:

Status and LEGO statement on 77014 The Temple of Doom

Before we jump into the photos, let’s address the elephant in the room, which is 77014 The Temple of Doom which was heavily rumoured to be delayed or cancelled.

The 2023 Temple of Doom set which was meant to be a remake of 7199 The Temple of Doom in inconspicuously absent from this initial wave, and LEGO provided the following statement, via the LEGO Ambassador Network

Throughout 2022, the LEGO Group worked closely with Lucasfilm to optimize our planned product line up for the upcoming LEGO Indiana Jones product launches in April 2023.
As an outcome of this, we consolidated the launch to focus on three products (77012, 77013, 77015) that feature some of the most iconic scenes from the Indiana Jones franchise.
We hope our fans love the new range and can’t wait to get their hands on them.

Update 2: This set is not coming. It’s cancelled.

It’s a bit of an ambiguous statement, and all it says that it’s NOT part of the April 2023 release, so who knows if its truly cancelled, or its been delayed.

That said, it’s incredibly disappointing to not have a set from The Temple of Doom, and LEGO Indiana Jones fans will sorely miss Short Round, Willie Scott, Mola Ram and more.

There are 3 sets in this initial wave, with none from the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny movie, suggesting that the release follows the template set by Avatar where we had sets based on the earlier movie before sets based on the newer movie were released a bit later.

Wow, these new LEGO Indiana Jones sets are absolutely incredible! I’m blown away by the attention to detail and the vibrant colors. It’s like stepping right into the iconic adventures with Indy himself. The Raiders of the Lost Ark set is particularly impressive, capturing the spirit of the film perfectly. The level of playability and the inclusion of various characters and scenes are top-notch. Thank you for sharing this complete look, it’s got me even more excited for the release! 2. Felipe says:

I’m wondering if LEGO decided to throw in the same Easter Egg as in the first generation version of “Escape from the Lost Tomb” (ie an image of the Star Wars droids hiding among the hieroglyphs)!

  3. Håkan says:

So, I guess your current wording means you have definite proof of the 77014 cancellation.

I have the old Short Round minifigure, anyway.

  4. Ragadaz says:

Was it ‘cancelled’ for PC reasons? I’d liked it if they re- released and update the one winged German aeroplane. Alas will be spending the money on LOTR Rivendell this year anyway. Maybe a Temple of Doom next year?

  5. Jose Guadalupe Casarez says:

I believe the title should have read “Indiana Jones ” and not (Indian Jones). But that’s just me.

  6. Jim Allen Johnston says:

I have all the old Indy sets, so I just want “additions” to them or big improvements, like the Lost Tomb one seems to be. I think I’d have stuck with my old Temple of Doom, since the new one’s Kali didn’t look much better. I’d hate to miss lil’ Maharajah minifig though, so I hope it does come out!

    • Jay Ong says:

That’s nice. The older Indi sets came out in the depths of my dark ages, so it’s the one theme I mostly missed out on.

Love that they’re going for updates and a refresh instead of a straight up remake. Some of the newer play features are super fun.

And yes, hoping for the Temple of Doom to come back in some form.
