Update: The 2022 LEGO Advent Calendars are also available on Amazon.com – Star Wars / Guardians of the Galaxy / City / Harry Potter / Friends
The disappointing thing this year is that prices have gone up. This is especially evident in Australia, where the Advent Calendars are 20% more expensive (they were AU$50 last year).
In the US, they’ve gone up by about US$5 across the board, and in the UK they’ve also gone up by £5, which is about 20% more expensive as well.
The price rises aren’t entirely surprising given the state of the world, and LEGO’s recent price increase but it still stings, especially as these are aimed at families and younger children, so it’ll start to add up if you’re doing more than one calendar.
As these will be available at most toy stores, and online retailers like Amazon, I would highly recommend waiting for them to be slightly discounted if you can.
LEGO Advent Calendars will go on sale from 1 September onwards, but as these are limited seasonal sets, they tend to go out of stock from November onwards, especially for the more popular licensed ones like Star Wars, so if you see one that you want on sale, I recommend not waiting around too long.
I’m still looking forward to the annual Jay’s Brick Blog Advent Calendar countdown, which kicks off on 1 December, and this year, I’ll be counting down the Star Wars, Harry Potter, Guardians of the Galaxy and Friends ones!
60352 LEGO City Advent Calendar
Buy from LEGO.com – US$34.99 / AU$59.99 / £21.99 / CAD$44.99
This year’s LEGO City Advent Calendar once again features characters and models from the LEGO City Adventures TV series. 5 minifigures (and a white foal!) are included: Billy, Maddy, Mr. Produce, Tippy and Raze, plus a Santa minifigure
41706 LEGO Friends Advent Calendar
Buy from LEGO.com – US$34.99 / AU$59.99 / £21.99 / CAD$44.99
The 2022 LEGO Friends Advent Calendar features Olivia’s family, and looks to include the first male Santa minidoll, and even a Baby Reindeer. The models and builds come together to build a scene depicting a Christmas market that Olivia and her family are visiting.
76404 LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar
Buy from LEGO.com – US$44.99 / AU$59.99 / £29.99 / CAD$59.99
After a weak previous few years, it looks like the Harry Potter Advent Calendar has stepped up in 2022. The board game element is back, where once you open every window, you can play a board game with the elements.
What really appeals to me is that there aren’t any conjoined scenes or models – an it looks like we’re getting mini models of Harry Potter locations, buildings and things which I’m super excited about.
Also Tonks!
75340 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar
Buy from LEGO.com – US$44.99 / AU$59.99 / £29.99 / CAD$59.99
This year’s LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar features a tie-in with the LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation animated special, featuring a beach Darth Vader, as well as C-3PO and R2-D2 in ugly Christmas jumpers, alongside the usual selection of mini locations and ships.
It’s rare to get so many festive minifigures, so this year’s looking pretty good so far.
76231 Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar
Buy from LEGO.com – US$44.99 / AU$59.99 / £29.99 / CAD$59.99
It looks like Marvel now has a permanent LEGO Advent Calendar spot, and 2022’s is Guardians of the Galaxy-themed, which ties into the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special which will be streamed on Disney+.
Christmas Tree Groot should be all that you need to convince you that this is going to be a fun one, especially for fans of LEGO Marvel/GOTG.
