2024 LEGO Super Mario sets appear to include paper instructions in the sets
The LEGO Kids website and german retailer JB Spielwaren has given us a sneak peek at two small LEGO Super Mario sets that are due to be released on 1 January 2024.
After a lull in LEGO the Starter Course system of play (the Donkey Kong sets largely functioned as standalone models), we see a return to the typical LEGO Super Mario Expansion sets with 71430 Penguin Family Snow Adventure and 71429 Nabbit at Toad’s Shop.
- 71430 Penguin Family Snow Adventure – US$19.99 / €19.99
- 71429 Nabbit at Toad’s Shop – US$19.99 / €19.99

What’s really interesting about the 2024 LEGO Super Mario sets is that they appear to come with Paper Instruction Manuals, which is a huge departure for the LEGO Super Mario theme, which has traditionally locked its building instructions behind the LEGO Super Mario App.
It might say something about the format, which is designed to push people to download and install the app, as well as encouraging kids and families to familiarise themselves with digital building instructions, but personally, I’ve always disliked that about LEGO Super Mario.
I really welcome this move, as it really allows kids to just build right out of the box, and avoids any awkward lulls as you search for a device, download an app, update the app, just to be able to build your new LEGO Super Mario sets.
Check out more photos of the new sets below, which should arrive on shelves on 1 January 2024!
