31209 The Amazing Spider-Man swings into the LEGO Art theme!

LEGO have officially unveiled 31209 The Amazing Spider-Man, a brand new addition to the LEGO Art theme that releases on 1 August 2023!

This intricately detailed LEGO Art set features the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man like you’ve never seen, with a three dimensional treatment that makes it look like Spidey is breaking out of the frame.

This 2,099-piece set will retail for US$199.99 / AU$299.99 and will be available from LEGO.com, or your local LEGO store, and makes for a great addition to any Spider-Man’s fans walls.

This is definitely one of the coolest LEGO Art sets that I’ve seen, and with its vibrant comic book colours, as well as 3D features, it really looks quite cool.

The picture’s background replicates the comic book’s Ben-Day-dot printing technique from the 1960s

It’s also quite a sizeable model, measuring over 21 in. (54 cm) high and 16 in. (41 cm) wide.

The 3D effect is quite cool, and I love the optical illusion of Spidey breaking out of the frame. If you’re wondering why there are so many LEGO Spiders in the frame (15 to be exact), it’s a nod to issue no. 15 of Amazing Fantasy in which Spider-Man first appeared in August 1962.

Also very happy to see a printed plaque here!

Like most LEGO Art sets, 31209 The Amazing Spider-Man also comes with a custom soundtrack tailor-made to enhance the time spent building this piece of Super Hero art.

Having had the chance to see an early version of this set earlier this year, I can say that it’s a really unique set, and I really like what LEGO have done here with the 3D design, as well as the focus on a classic comic book spidey.

While it is quite pricey, it is great for LEGO and Spider-Man fans who want to slightly elevate their living spaces with this gorgeous piece of LEGO Art.

What do you think of 31209 The Amazing Spider-Man? Do you like what LEGO have done here?

The exposed studs look like the tiny dots in old comic books.

  2. Jim Allen Johnston says:

dang, Lego, you just keep making these terrific looking and creative yet soooooo big and pricey! I wish I could buy them all, but , alas, I don’t have a Tardis to store and display them all in…

What an amazingly cool piece though!

Even as an old Spidey fan, I don’t find the end result entirely successful in its forced perspective. Even if I’d have the space and funds, I’m a bit skeptical. If possible, I might try to get the printed plaque separately, unless it’s deterringly expensive…

Looks pretty cool, love the green dot background, but that could be because I love the colour green 😏
I wouldn’t buy it because it’s not my thing.
I would love to see Benny or Lego minifigure version Wonder Woman done like this.

That ugly “collar” (what is it even supposed to represent???) ruins the look of it. Liberty statue case over again.. :O

    • Håkan says:

It’s just ole’ webhead’s beefed up shoulders, but I can agree the forced perspective is not entirely successful…

  6. Amelia says:

Yes, please! I love the comic book styling and this will go well in the Marvel section of our house. Will have to avoid looking when the haters invariably come out to talk about the price. There are a lot of pieces, and it’s still unique enough to warrant a piece of my wallet. Thanks, Jay! 🙂
