A smaller LEGO 75379 R2-D2 revealed for LEGO Star Wars 25th Anniversary!

Amazon Mexico has given us our very first look at a new LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary set, 75379 R2-D2!

This is a midi-sized version of everyone’s beloved astromech droid, and is set for release on 1 March 2024, and will retail for US$99.99.

  • 75379 R2-D2 – US$99.99 / AU$199.99 / €99.99 / £89.99 / CAD$129.99

For those in the US, you can also pre-order 75379 R2-D2 and 75387 Boarding the Tantive IV from Amazon.com. In Australia, pre-orders are also available via the LEGO Certified Store, so you can click and collect on day one!

Update: the entire LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary March 2024 release has been revealed!

To celebrate LEGO Star Wars’ 25th anniversary, we not only get this awesome new box art and packaging design, but the set will also come with an exclusive Darth Malak, a fan favourite from Knights of the Old Republic, and various other Legends content, complete with a decorative display stand with the 25th logo on it!

Back to R2-D2, the back of the box gives you a look at more details and functions, and despite the budget price it also includes a UCS display plaque making this, in my opinion, a great alternative to 75308 R2-D2 from 2021.

According to Amazon, the 2024 LEGO R2-D2 will measure 38.2cm tall, 26.2cm wide and 9.4cm deep.

This is a superb set, especially if you don’t already own a LEGO UCS R2-D2, and LEGO know exactly what they’re doing with this set, tempting even long-time fans to buy yet another R2-D2 with the inclusion of the LEGO Darth Malak minifigure!

Amazon Mexico has also given us a clearer look at 75387 Boarding the Tantive IV, and now we get a better look at some of the new details, as well as the exclusive LEGO Star Wars 25th Anniversary Arc Trooper Fives minifigure.

75387 Boarding the Tantive IV will also be released on 1 March 2024, and should retail for US$54.99.

This looks like great value, both as a display piece and a Battle Pack. It’s rare to get so many minifigures at this price-point, so I expect this to do quite well.

2024 is shaping up to be a a great year for LEGO Star Wars fans, and I can’t wait to see what else gets revealed!

The new R2D2 is a perfect size, if only the same could be said about the price. Is it really going to be$200 😯 I seem to remember the older version of this being three times the size of this and it was$350 maybe?

  2. Andy says:

    Definite purchase for me!

I love the UCS R2, but honestly, he’s a bit too big for my display space. This one looks just right.

Malak is a nice bonus too!

  3. Derek says:

This will help C-3PO sell. In fact, when they are both out and people see the value in the two together, that’s when they’ll truly run off of the shelves. I will buy this only if it is a good price and not horrendously overpriced like so many Star Wars sets are. Hopefully Big W sells it.

  4. Thomas says:

    I‘m disappointed, tbh. I didn’t want a midi-size R2-D2 – I wanted a maxi-size C-3PO, compatible with the UCS R2-D2… 🙁

  5. Alejandra Campos says:

    R2D2 is adorable!!
