An icon returns with the 2023 LEGO 75355 UCS X-Wing Starfighter!

LEGO have officially unveiled the first Ultimate Collector Series Star Wars set of 2023, 75355 UCS-Wing Starfighter, just in time for Star Wars Day, aka May the 4th.

The X-Wing is arguably one of the most recognisable and iconic Star Wars starfighters, and LEGO feels like it’s time to update the UCS model with new building techniques and elements for 2023, making this 1,949-piece set the most detailed version yet.

The 2023 LEGO UCS X-Wing will retail for US$239.99 / AU$369.99 / £209.99  and will be available exclusively from LEGO.com or your local LEGO Store, with a release date of 1 May 2023 for LEGO VIPs, ahead of a 4 May 2023 general release.

See below for regional pricing and product pages:

X-Wing Starfighters are an ubiquitous part of LEGO Star Wars, and this is the third UCS X-Wing Starfighter, after 2013’s 10240 Red Five X-Wing Starfighter, and 2000’s 7191 X-Wing Fighter.

It’s been 10 years since the last UCS X-Wing Starfighter, and I think that’s a decent enough gap for LEGO to revisit the X-Wing.

A decade is a really long time, and in the time since then, LEGO and LEGO Star Wars has exploded in popularity, with many people discovering or returning to LEGO that may have missed the 2013 UCS X-Wing, so I think it’s a positive that LEGO are revisiting the X-Wing, to allow new fans a chance at adding one to their collection without needing to spend a small fortune on the secondary market.

The 2023 LEGO UCS X-Wing does exactly what it says on the box, delivering a highly detailed and large display model of the X-Wing Starfighter.

The 2023 LEGO UCS X-Wing’s dimensions are 55cm (21.5”) long, 27cm (10.5”) high and 44cm (17.5”) wide when on its display stand, which gives you the option of displaying the X-Wing in an aggressive, upwards facing pose.

Pretty great, and it makes for a great centerpiece, or displayed alongside your other LEGO Ultimate Collectors Series models.

At a slightly larger scale, it enables the designer, Henrik Andersen to include more details on the thrusters, cockpit and wings, with a brand new S-Foil opening and closing mechanisms.

The set comes with a new and exclusive Luke Skywalker minifigure, in his pilot outfit, and R2-D2 as well.

Another brand new innovation, which has been a longtime request from LEGO Star Wars fans is the inclusion of a printed UCS Plaque! I’m so glad it means no more LEGO UCS stickers to apply, and this I think heralds a new era of LEGO Star Wars UCS sets.

Here’s a closer look at the cockpit and canopy.

LEGO have also supplied more lifestyle photos, which you can enjoy below:

Look, this is a modern LEGO UCS X-Wing, with details, sculpting techniques and clever element usage (like those flippers for the magnetic flashback supressors!) befitting a pricey 2023 LEGO Ultimate Collectors series set.

For long-time LEGO Star Wars fans who might already have one (or two!) UCS X-Wings in their collections, this probably won’t set their world on fire, but if you’re a LEGO Star Wars fan that only recently got back into LEGO, this is going to be a fantastic pickup, if you want a UCS X-Wing in your collection.

75355 UCS X-Wing Starfighter will be available from LEGO.com on 1 May 2023 for LEGO VIPs.

LEGO Star Wars correspondent Vaderfan will be sharing a review of the 2023 LEGO UCS X-Wing closer to the launch date, so be sure to keep an eye out for our detailed look at the set!

What do you think of the 2023 LEGO UCS X-Wing Starfighter? Will you be picking it up?

Is there any chance that they’ll rerelease Luke’s lightsaber as a limited GWP for this set?

    • Jay Ong says:

Hard to say, but very doubtful unless they have more in stock. They did re-issue Luke’s Lightsaber in North America/Europe last year to clear some excess stock, but I don’t think it’s coming back.

  2. Hayami208 says:

Going to pass. I feel there are so many unreleased ships and I realize I am old but i feel like I just built the last iteration. Still great for new collectors who missed on the previous two versions. While there are some upgrades just not enough to convince me to buy it again. Just on pics alone I think the most recent before this actually looks more to accurate scale. Still I am sur a great set every collector should have.

    • Jay Ong says:

I think that’s totally fine if you have the old one – this UCS X-Wing is clearly geared towards new fans, and hey, you can save money for the bigger UCS set that traditionally gets released on Black Friday.

  3. DAVID says:

They also introduced two new Lego dioramas from Return of the Jedi. Endor Speedor Chase, and Emperor’s Room Lightsaber Battle

  4. desz71 says:

I’ve got the 7191 ucs x-wing set from the year 2000, so it looks like the new one is the third iteration of this fantastic set in 23 years. I also have the 7181 TIE interceptor from the same year. They’re both great models and I’ve still got them on display after all these years. Keep up the good work Jay!!!

  5. Jeff says:

Need an updated UCS Tie Interceptor or B-Wing badly!

  6. Ryan M says:

Has it been a decade? By my recollection we had “Star Wars Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing Fighter 75301” not that long ago.

    • Maks says:

exactly what i was thinking. i definitely build this set last year. i wonder if its a refresh set from the original X-Wing 7140 (which i also own)

this newest UCS may be a thing ill get since i do not have the 10240-1.

      • Alex says:

UCS stands for “Ultimate Collector Series”. These are all huge, very detailed models mostly aimed at adults. So this one is a $200 set whereas the other Xwing is a $40 set.

Millenium Falcon has the same thing. $800 UCS vs $150 or whatever for the normal one.
