Check out the official LEGO 21339 BTS Dynamite set featuring the Bangtan Boys as minifigures!

At long last, LEGO and BigHit Music have officially unveiled 21339 BTS Dynamite, the second LEGO Ideas set of 2023. It depicts the music video set of their smash hit Dynamite.

The LEGO BTS set features all seven members of BTS (aka the Bangtan Boys) in minifigure form, so fans of the KPOP sensation can finally get their hands on RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and JungKook minifigures.

The 749-piece LEGO BTS Dynamite set has a release date of 1 March 2023*, and will retail for US$99.99 / AU$169.99, and will be available exclusively from LEGO.com or from your local LEGO Store.

See below for regional pricing and links:

*In some markets, the set will be released in early March

Short update: This photo has surfaced with what seems to be a GWP of a set of limited edition vinyl-packaged postcards and sticker sheets, which will be available when you purchase the set. So far, the only sites with this information seem to be from Singapore or Malaysia, so it’s unknown if these will be released globally.

Here’s a better look at the box, which I was very delighted to learn that it’s a flip top box, which means it’s a slightly higher quality than punchhole boxes, and allows you to use it as storage.

The big drawcard of this set is undoubtedly the entire BTS boyband in minifigure form, and fans of BTS (affectionately known as ARMY), will be delighted to see the Bangtan Boys’ iconic outfits from the Dynamite music video.

Due to copyright and licensing issues, LEGO weren’t able to directly mimic the Gucci and Saint Laurent outfits that the boys wore, but it’s the closest thing we’ll get to official LEGO Saint Laurent FW2020 and Gucci’s Pre-Fall 2020 collection!

Eagle-eyed minifigure fans will also notice the debut of a new center-parted wig on Suga and Jungkook, in brown and black, which will give minifigure customisers great new hairstyle option, with the trendy Korean perm look.

The set has also come a LONG way from the original fan designers, Josh, 20 from Indiana, and Jacob, 21 from New York who combined their love of BTS and LEGO building to bring this concept together.

Like the Dynamite music video, LEGO designers James May, and Gemma Anderson, and Graphic Designer Diego Sancho have splashed the set out with fun and poppy pastel colours, while keeping the original set concept in tact.

One new addition that really elevates the model is this Dynamite Ice Cream Truck, which as you may notice is a 4-wide vehicle, evoking Classic Town vibes.

The interiors are pretty fun, and in the Record Store, you’ll see plenty of stickered BTS album covers, which fans will absolutely love.

For some reason, there’s also a printed tile with a Blacktron signal on radar from 10497 Galaxy Explorer, so I guess Blacktron is now canon in the BST universe.

There’s also a burger and donut store, complete with a slushie machine.

And I was pumped to see the basketball court with the awesome wall graffiti art from the music video. The palm trees are also a great addition, as they feature in parts of the music video, evoking a fun, West Coast vibe.

And if you want to display just the band on its own, the set even comes with a stage. You’ll notice that there are gears on the side, which suggests that you can turn them to swivel around the BTS minifigures to make them dance.

And there you have it, one of the most anticipated LEGO sets from BTS fans.

I personally think it looks all right. It likely won’t appeal to most LEGO fans, but it will be a huge deal for BTS fans, who may very well be pulled into the LEGO hobby because of this set.

The minifigures itself are cool, and even if you’re not a fan of BTS, you can easily resell the minifigures and be left with a pretty neat and usable Burger and Donut Record Store!

What do you think of the LEGO BTS set? Will you be picking it up?

21339 BTS Dynamite will be released on 1 March 2023 exclusively from LEGO.com or from your local LEGO Store.

The army’ll see another faction’s pact done!
For the record, you’ll see some infraction act’s on!
Everyone awes when there’s Blacktron action!

  2. I think if I was a BTS fan I would be thrilled with this. But as German AFOL who has heard of BTS and heard a couple of their songs on the radio, I just feel that it’s overpriced for the part count and the amount of stuff. The minifigs are cute and the new wigs are great (I hope they’ll be available from PAB).
It’s a bit disappointing that there are so many stickers. Ideas sets usually are using prints for most decorations, but I guess there were just too many of them in this set.
Maybe I will get it eventually if it ever gets on sale (usually, Ideas sets are LEGO exclusive at first, but become available from selected chains later on, where they often go on sale at some point).
I was a bit taken aback when it was announces that the set would be produced because of the unfinished state of the fan submission, and thought this was a slap in the face of all the fan designers who put a lot of work in their MOCs and present very polished projects. But I guess it was a very cunning decision on the business side to go for this one.

  3. BTS Lover says:

I showed my friend who LOVES BTS this set. She fell in love with it at first sight!

$100 is not bad price for a 700 piece Lego.

I cannot wait to buy this set for myself and my friend as a birthday gift 🙂

I love BTS and I love Lego but come on this is way too basic and so overpriced.
It’ll be on sale in no time just look at the Queer Eye set and that was a lot, lot better.
Once the BTS Army have purchased it no one else will really pay £89 for it.
If it was £59 you’d have to really think twice

  5. Keith says:

$120-130aud would be a first day buy for me. Hell, will even begrudgingly buy it for $150. But $170 is really taking the piss. I mean they could have padded the set to 1000 pieces.
Hopefully it’s just a one off because of BTS and not a trend how future licence sets will be priced.
Given Rivendell coming out and I want to get the two 3 in 1 sets, will give this a miss unless I can get a discounted set from Amazon or Kmart

  6. Kim says:

As a huge lego AND bts fan I couldn’t BELIEVE it when the design was chosen for production!! By any chance do you know around what time they are released on the release date? I’m from Sydney and the last ideas set I bought – van Gogh Starry Night – was released at 10 or 11am on the VIP pre-order day but I cannot remember!

    • Keith says:

I think it depends where you are buying it from. In Australia, most of the certified shops are a different business to the official Lego website (they also have their own website). But from previous release, if you are buying online, they should come on at midnight. If you are talking about the brick and mortal shop, then it would depends on when the shop open I guess. I’ve been doing click and collect at my local certified shop for the last few major releases so I know I’ll definitely secure a set and only need to go collect it when they sent me an email.

  7. Brett says:

As a massive BTS fan (ARMY), I think Lego has done a really good job with this set, which I’ve been eagerly awaiting. I just hope Lego has anticipated how many ARMY who have never bought Lego before will be hitting refresh on the website to buy this the instant it goes on sale…

  8. Army mom says:

Thanks for the pics and the review! I’m army and will definitely be getting this set…I’m stunned at how much V’s figure looks like him! They did a really good job overall.

  9. Jeff Cooper says:

a very sad moment for the world of lego!
