    Hi enjoyed you both
Talking about lego Star Wars helmets
Coming soon I have built the first 3
Looking forward to the next 3 probe droid
Looks to be my favorite.love how you like the idea of a
Chewbacca head as I would love the
Idea of a Darth Maul Head I think would look
Awesome …was also wondering what you
Thought of lego re-do sets too many times
Yet some sets are yet to be made
In large form like Nebulon B Frigate
Or the missed opportunity for lego to build
A full size Dreadnought from the last Jedi
    Thanks Mark

Thanks Mark, so glad you enjoyed the podcast!

I think it’s inevitable that LEGO remakes sets constantly – it allows fans who missed out previously to get their hands on sets as new LEGO fans are created every day 🙂

Oooh, a full-sized Dreadnought would be great. I wish the sequels did have more interesting ships introduced, but personally, I’d love to see more from Clone Wars era.

And yes to a large form Nebulon Frigate OR a Mon Calamari Cruiser!

That was an interesting discussion in general but particularly about the VIP center. Personally I feel having GWP’s as reward center redeemable rather than an automatic GWP for buy a particular set or meeting a spend threshold would back fire on Lego significantly in one way but also benefit them in another. Example Pro & Con –

Con – people like myself (disabled pensioner) on a fixed income with only so much to spend each month on Lego and primarily buy it when retailers have sales do not have a lot of VIP points. Personally I only buy direct from Lego for the Christmas set with my birthday money I get from family members and for really good GWP’s like last months Amelia Earhart/Bunny House duo or Double VIP event with a good GWP like last years pre-Black Friday event. So if GWP’s go to VIP redeemable I’m even less incentivized to buy direct as I won’t have the points.

Pro – People with better funding are more likely to buy direct from Lego for all purchases to build up points to be able to redeem for exclusives then to spend full retail at other places like smaller toy stores.

Con – so Lego fans who already miss out on exclusives due to where they live (SDCC ect) or because supply is so low they are gone before they can get them (did we even have the Lightsaber GWP in Australia? I didn’t see it at all on Lego S@H before or after release of the Cantina) are going to be even more annoyed by further limiting their ability to get exclusives. While it is nice to be able to have something like that in your collection as something you can’t just go out and buy (unless it’s aftermarket at insane prices), it’s nice for everyone to at least have the chance to fairly get it. Plus why list a GWP as available for a week or two period, or for buying a particular set if they know they don’t have enough to last until lunchtime of release day let alone day two.

Conclusion – considering the ever growing PC culture we live in and corporations daily falling over themselves to virtue signal their wokeness, does Lego really want to make an already expensive “children’s toy” appear even more a purview of only the wealthy? You know someone on Twitter will go there, it’ll trend and the cancel culture will descend (I’m a 46yr old women with no time for BS lol). As their biggest markets are in the US and Europe where Lego is not as discounted at general retail and shipping or GWP spend thresholds are so much lower then here, I doubt it will make much difference to people’s spending with Lego, so perhaps that’s their thinking – if it only affects a small portion of their consumers outside of their major markets, do they really care?

Anyway, it’s just sucks that it will be more things then the ever increasing expensive “adult” sets that I won’t be able to get after drooling longingly at them online. Thanks Lego for bringing me so much joy and ever increasing levels of annoyance and painful loss, that will eventually turn your loyal fans off and send a lot of us into second likely permanent Dark Ages.

Thanks so much for your feedback Nichole – and glad you enjoyed the first episode! After reading your comment, and the fiasco this week involving the Ulysses Probe, this further backs my stance on GWP vs VIP rewards.

Unfortunately, LEGO are veering closer towards being a collectable hobby than it is a creative hobby, more so in the past few years.

We did get the Yoda Lightsabre – it was a GWP with purchase of the Mos Eisley Cantina, but understandbly sold out really quickly as well.

I think with the direction LEGO is heading towards, it’s really important to be selective with what sets you want, and align them to your interests and also most importantly budgets. I’ve come to that conclusion a while ago that I cannot afford (and don’t have space) to store/display every single LEGO set I would like to have, and have forgo’d many of them.

Thanks once again for your thoughtful comment, and for listening to the first episode!

Looking forward to the next episode. Thanks for letting me know we did get the lightsaber, I didn’t even see it billed as a GWP and must have slept through it being available lol!!
