First look at Space-themed LEGO Collectible Minifigures coming in May 2024!

British LEGO retailer The Minifigure Store has given us our very first look at the next LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series, which is Space-themed!

2024 is a banner year for LEGO Space, and LEGO are all on in celebrating all aspects of Space, so it’s wonderful to see an entire LEGO Minifigures Series dedicated to Space characters, including some very popular retro favourites!

The LEGO Space Minifigures should have a release date of 1 May 2024, following previous release cycles, and alas, they’ll still be available in blind boxes. Hopefully the scannable QR codes work for this series which will hopefully make the hunt slightly easier.

There are 12 new characters to collect in this series, and there are some standout characters to collect!

Classic Space fans will be delighted to see a new Pink Spacebaby, and also updated M-Tron, Blacktron II and Ice Planet characters. The robotic penguin that comes with the Ice Planet minifigure, and the epic return of the transparent orange chainsaw is a godsend, and I’m going to buy as many of these as I can humanly can.

Other highlights include the Alien Tourist, and UFO minifigure, and the Constellation Minifigure which looks to be made mostly out of trans-purple elements.

I absolutely cannot wait for this series as it looks like such a fun one with so many Classics. As an M-Tron and Ice Planet tragic, the thought of getting new updated modern minifigures is also mighty exciting as well, and this Space Minifigure Series also looks prime to army build with!

What do you think of the LEGO Space Collectible Minifigures and which characters are you most looking forward to?

I’m in the minority here, but these feel a little underwhelming to me. There are a few that I’d probably enjoy having, but there’s nothing here I would make any great effort to run out and get. There’s just something … whimsical about many of them, like they were cobbled together at the last minute. I don’t mean to sound harsh about it. But think about all the great space-themed mini figures LEGO has done in past. Do you remember the Space Police Guy and the Alien from series 21 … the series 13 Alien Trooper and the Galaxy Trooper …. the series 7 Galaxy Patrol … the series 22 Space Creature!! Those were all pretty clever and original. There were so many more too.

    • Keith S says:

To expand on that a bit … I think any of these pieces and accessories would be amazing as BAM releases, but they just seem a little weak for blind boxes.

  2. Tiffany says:

These are super cool! I’m so excited for this new lineup as well. Especially the pink space baby! Thank you so much for sharing 🙂

  3. Emily says:

So excited for the Ice Planet minifig and robotic penguin!! Going to collect multiples of them!! Ice Planet is in my top two themes. Will definitely get the Blacktron minifig as well; I like the half alien look, looks like it has two arms on the one side.

  4. Daryl says:

very disappointed to see no real astronaut in the lineup, maybe we could convince Lego to stop making these , and instead give us some more selection in the pirate, Forestmen, oriental explorers sets of the good years of old

    • Håkan says:

The eighth minifig is clearly a real astronaut, although it’s arguably the most boring minifig of the bunch.

As for the lack of Classic Space astronauts, there have been so many throwbacks the last years, so I can be happy that Lego has decided to switch things up a bit. (As I was born in 1980, Classic Space was slightly before my time, and I am more nostalgit towards M-Tron, Ice Planet 2002 and Blacktron 2, anyway…)

  5. Jacob says:

I absolutely love the Orion Minifigure (just left of the space baby. I was able to piece it together when I saw the Greek armour design, and the constellation on the shield matched up with the actual constellation. She we didn’t get a trans purple bow tho.

  6. Andrew H says:

I like about half of thsese… about normal for me. I personally support the two separate runs where one is indistinguishable, and the second run has the codes. Then people can play some luck with the first run and complete their set with the second run. Or just wait and drool!

  7. Robert Gurskey says:

” there are some standout characters to collect!”

They are ALL standout characters, as far as I am concerned. I plan to get all 12 minifigures.

  8. Chuckie says:

The constellation figure looks awesome, but I think the one that is most intriguing to me is the flying saucer. I love that the torso & legs are designed as outer space – what a clever idea! This would be a great Halloween costume.

I think it would look better if instead of a green minifigure face the interior of the flying saucer (ship controls, mini aliens, etc) were printed on the head.

  9. Andy says:

Like others, I’m disappointed in no new classic space astronaut.

Some have managed to cobble together a purple one from the parts of the alien from the earlier series. It would have been nice to have an ‘official’ one though.

I’ll definitely be getting the full set though, and probably a couple of duplicates – a few of the Roswell alien and robot nanny.

M-Tron and Blacktron were after my time, but I’m sure my younger brother will be interested!

Like Jay says, I just hope that the QR codes can be scanned – That seems like the fairest way to satisfy both the chasers and those who just want a surprise.

    • Studless says:

We also had to swap hands for the light bluish gray torso, which doesn’t have a matching helmet nor airtank yet (and no, the old light gray doesn’t do it for me)

  10. James says:

They forgot the original Lego space minifig

  11. John Cooper says:

the only thing i want is the pink spacebaby and the m tron. However i wont be getting any since its the box and cannot be felt

  12. Hus says:

    Hi Jay,
Will you be posting a guide for the scannable QR codes 👀

  13. capacitatedFlux says:

    ORANGE

    TRANSPARENT

    CHAINSAW

  14. Jono says:

I don’t understand why management level lets this series out…
no classic spaceman how to call space..?

  15. Bianca says:

What a disappointment. This is the first non-branded series where I haven’t wanted a single minifigure.

    I suppose it’s a matter of preference, but still… 🙁

    • Ilya says:

Same here. Very disappointing series and the first one in eternity I’m going to skip entirely. For me it looks like a chaotic DreamZzZzzZ side branch.

  16. Terrence Meyers says:

They seriously couldn’t have included a classic space astronaut in a new color like teal or something?

    • Studless says:

Teal os also my bet for the next color and yeah, disappointed when I learnt they wouldn’t include any but it’s probably for the best considering the current box format and goat scalpers 😂

  17. Studless says:

Does the dog have pink eyes? Is it an alien dog or a robot dog? Either way I want it xD alien torusit is my favorite fig and there’s other 4 I like a lot for other reasons but I would get them all if I could

    • Håkan says:

The dog has a red right eye (to the left of the picture), similar to T-800 in Terminator. It’s a cyborg dog, I believe…
