Introducing LEGO 21330 Home Alone – the biggest LEGO Ideas set so far!

“Would you please tell him that instead of presents this year, i just want my family back the LEGO Home Alone set”

The moment is finally here, ya filthy animals – the official reveal of the LEGO Ideas 21330 Home Alone set, and be prepared to be blown away.

This is THE ultimate LEGO Home Alone playset, and LEGO have not cheaped out one bit. Coming in at 3,955 pieces, the LEGO Home Alone set now officially holds the title of largest LEGO Ideas set of all time.

The LEGO Home Alone set has a release date of 1 November 2021, and will be priced at US$249.99 / AU$399.99 and will be available exclusively from LEGO.com or your local LEGO retail store.

See below for regional pricing and links:

It comes 5 minifigures with Kevin McCallister, Harry, Marv, old man Marley and Kevin’s mum Kate

This set is utterly delightful (and not to mention massive!) and serves as the ultimate Home Alone homage in LEGO form.

It’s an incredibly detailed recreation of the iconic McCalister House, from the first Home Alone movie, which by the way, is one of the best Christmas movies of all time. I grew up enthralled by Kevin’s antics, and home-made defences, so this was a really special experience, reliving all the most memorable parts of the movie in LEGO form.

The set is massive, at almost 4,000 pieces, and measures 27cm high, 34cm deep, and 34cm wide. It’s an absolute beast of a build, and the build reminded me of a Modular Building, with ultra-detailed interiors.

The most impressive thing about the set is that it’s a fully self-contained building, with walls across the entire exterior, that opens up, dollhouse style.

It’s truly breathtaking and I love that LEGO did not compromise here, and have an exposed back like they do with most buildings.

I really like this design feature, which allows you to display the set as a standalone building, or opened up to showcase all the rooms and scenes inside.

The minifigure selection is everyone you expect from the movie, with Kevin McCallister, Harry, Marv, old man Marley and Kevin’s mum Kate.

The aesthetic choice for the minifigures, are more cartoony, as opposed to realistic, but still retain all the defining features, such as Harry’s (played by Joe Pesci) gold tooth, and Marv’s patchy facial hair.

The central plot of Home Alone revolves around Kevin McCalister, valiantly defending his home from intruders Marv and Harry, foiling their plot to rob the home with an elaborate series of booby traps.

The LEGO Home Alone set is chock-full with these Easter Eggs and if you’re a big Home Alone fan, you will not be disappointed at all.

Yes, that includes American Dental Association-approved toothpaste

So many iconic moments, and scenes can be re-created in the set, and the LEGO Designers somehow managed to squeeze in nearly every single reference in the movie into the set.

I highly recommend rewatching Home Alone as you’re putting the set together, to relive and re-immerse yourself in Kevin McCallister’s world.

Additionally, you also get Harry and Marv’s Oh-Kay Plumbing and Heating Van, as well as the Treehouse.

Finding Kevin

To celebrate the launch of the new LEGO® Ideas Home Alone set, the LEGO Group is celebrating Kevins across the globe.  The incredibly detailed set is based on the house from the original Home Alone movie and was designed by LEGO fan Alex Storozhuk, from Ukraine, via the LEGO Ideas platform.  In addition to the house, the set includes a LEGO minifigure version of the Home Alone icon, Kevin McCallister plus four other minifigure characters from the movie.

Recreating one of the world’s favourite Kevins and his family home in LEGO brick form inspired the LEGO Group to celebrate Kevins everywhere and launch a global search for the Kevin McCallister minifigure. To get the name trending again, the LEGO Group has launched a global search to find the Kevin McCallister LEGO minifigure all over the world. The search is taking place on LEGO.com/Home-Alone and in select LEGO stores giving fans the chance to win a $1000 LEGO voucher, as well as the LEGO Ideas Home Alone set.

You can get involved in the search for Kevins from 1st – 30th November through;

Find Kevin on LEGO.com

A Kevin McCallister minifigure has been hidden somewhere on LEGO.com. When found, the minifigure can be clicked on, taking the user to the competition page where instructions will be given on how to enter the competition.

As the final LEGO Ideas set of the year, and with the Christmas and holiday season approaching, I cannot think of a better, big set to close the year out.

Home Alone always reminds me of Christmas, and the set (and movie) oozes so many warm festive and family vibes, and I think this set will be incredibly popular as a Christmas (or November!) gift.

The set’s relatively high price might be a barrier for some people without massive LEGO budgets, but if you were to save up or treat yourself to one large set in 2021, this is a very worthy contender.

That said, having built the set (look out for my review soon!), this is a really fun build that will bring back very fond memories of the Home Alone movie, and/or Christmas.

What do you think of the LEGO Ideas Home Alone set? Will it be on your Christmas list?

The LEGO Home Alone set has a release date of 1 November 2021, and will be priced at US$249.99 / AU$399.99 and will be available exclusively from LEGO.com or your local LEGO retail store.

Does “local lego retail store” mean just LEGO stores or will stores like target, Amazon etc have them as well?

  2. gregory ferko says:

Crap I want this. Wouldn’t it be funny if whoever bought the actual house had a Lego collection and this set in it?

  3. What’s up with the find kevin challenge you mentioned? I can’t find any mention of it anywhere on lego’s website or anywhere.

  4. Andrew says:

It looks like a very well designed set, but if you’re not familiar with the subject matter it’s really just another house.

Is it just me or are we being bombarded with US TV/movie tie-ins lately? I can see the sense in Lego expanding their market, but these sets all look a bit samey to me.

Not for me, but I don’t think anything’s going to be for me for a while once I’ve put aside enough for Titanic ;).

  5. Håkan says:

Hmm, I’m still surprised that there would be an international fandom around for the movie to justify such a big set. I know it was a big hit when it came out, but it’s more than 30 years by now.

Well, it’s a very well designed set, anyway.

    • Paul Castle says:

Well, it’s become a franchise, with a fifth sequel/variation on the theme in cinemas in November. It’s part of our popular culture, with many homages. It’s comparable to Ghostbusters, I’d say, and that’s had several Lego sets over the last decade.

  6. Paul Castle says:

Oh wow! I watched all five of these movies last year (first two are excellent, third and the TV Movie fourth are a bit ropey but still watchable if you’re in the right mood, and the fifth is really rather good for a TV movie) so have them clear in my mind.

This is going to have to go on Paypal credit, I think, as I’m all spent out this year (I bought a lot of Lego in September/October) but this is definitely a must buy as it looks gorgeous!

  7. Bill J says:

I want this set so incredibly bad because I know it will sell out day one and probably won’t be available again until early 2022. But I’ve spent the last two months saving $650 for the Titanic and another $250 just isn’t going to happen right now.
