Thanks to the Australian LEGO Certified Store, we have our first official look at the upcoming March 2021 Gift with Purchase (GWP) – 40450 Amelia Earhart Tribute!
Update: Read my review of LEGO 40450 Amelia Earhart Tribute to see more of the set and what you can expect from it!
The set will be available from LEGO.com from 6-14 March 2021, and will be free with purchases of US$100, AU$199, and £100.
The set celebrates Amelia Earhart, the famed American aviator who was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic ocean who mysteriously vanished in one of her latter voyages which just added to her legend.

The set is based on a Lockheed Vega which Amelia piloted across the Atlantic, and also comes with a commemorative plaque as well as an awesome exclusive minifigure.
Looking at the box art, it’s very much housed within the same theme as last year’s Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol set, suggesting that we’re going to see more historical figures to come as GWPs.

The set will be available from LEGO.com from 6-14 March 2021, and will be free with purchases of US$100.
From the March US Store calendar

I’ll have a review of the set up in a few weeks, so keep an eye out for it, but if you happen to be in Australia and live close to an LCS, the GWP is available early through your local LEGO Certified Store and will be free with purchases over AU$199.99!
Keep an eye out for my review soon!
If anyone’s after another airplane model, there’s a new 3in1 Creator set with a Biplane as one of the alternative builds!

I’m looking forward to this LEGO kit. Does anyone know if there is a LEGO kit for a Lockheed Model 10 Electra?

Unfortunately no – LEGO has been very reluctant to take on historical aircraft, with their last major effort being the Sopwith Camel back in 2012. It’s a little tricky due to their “no war stance”. But I wish LEGO would take a different approach and have more classic aircraft models.
Hope this promo does well enough to convince them that there is appetite for historical aviation models!
I didn’t that about LEGO. Hopefully they would consider building Amelia earhart’s Lockheed model 10 Electra from 1937. Is there a way to suggest this idea to LEGO? Also is there anything out there that would help me build plans for building future LEGO items?
This lady is in a lot of alien UFO abduction documentaries, that’s how I know this name 🙂
Haha, that’s a good idea. I’ll try and snap some photos of the build with some Aliens 🙂
Strange that it’s available from the Certified Stores already, but not at Lego.com for another fortnight. For those living in remote sparsely-populated parts of Australia without a store (like Canberra 🙁 ) that’s a tad disappointing.
Err only in America. Why ?
It’s worldwide, but I don’t have all the international details yet!
Excellent, will definitely be placing an order on March 6th!
It’s well worth it. I’ll be able to finally share my review on the 1st, so keep an eye out for it!
