LEGO 40712 Classic Space Micro Rocket Launchpad GWP revealed!

2024 truly is the year for LEGO Space! The Dreamworld LEGO Certified Store has given us a sneak peek of an upcoming LEGO gift with purchase (GWP) – 40712 Micro Rocket Launchpad!

It features a delightful selection of Micro Classic Space builds, and two spacebabies, including a new white variant!

Update: This has now been confirmed to be available from 16 February 2024 for LEGO Insiders and 19 February for everyone else with purchases of US$200 / €200 / AU$320 or more from LEGO.com

For all the offers and promotions in your specific region, check out the pages below for the most up-to-date information!

I expect this to pop up right after the current  40679 Love Gift Box GWP ends after the 14th of February.

We’ll have to wait for LEGO to officially reveal on the Offers and Promotions page for the global purchase thresholds and dates.

The set is a gorgeous nod to some of the most iconic LEGO Classic Space sets such as 6950 Mobile Rocket Transport, 6971 Inter-Galactic Command Base and 920 Alpha-1 Rocket Base.

I absolutely can’t wait for this GWP and you can be damn sure this will be incredibly popular with LEGO Classic Space fans!

While a nice GWP that I would love to have, it’s an unacceptably high threshold. Together with timing deliberately designed to be at the end of the month, after Feb 1 and before before March 1 releases, it’s too much. While the strategy makes perfect sense to increase sales, it also continues Lego’s disturbing trend of burning loyalty. No space babies for me! 😀

  2. Mr Michael Balin says:

A great GWP. I’ve always assumed that the classic space rockets were modelled after the Saturn V. Can anyone confirm?

  3. Josh says:

I for one absolutely love this!..my very 1st lego set when I was a kid was the 6950 Mobile Rocket Transport (and I still have it)..the only thing is I wish one of the space babies was yellow

  4. Thomas says:

Honestly? I’m disappointed. This is neat but no more than a gag. A glorified Advent calendar model. These are the times of remakes like 10497 or 40580 (or 21322, 10305 or 10320). I was hoping for a real remake set, from another classic, be it Futuron or Blacktron II or Ice Planet. So, no, easy pass for me.

  5. Håkan says:

Basically, a cool set, but there’s not much else that interests me now, and my space and fundings feel too limited to motivate a US$ 200 purchase at the moment. Also, I’m more nostalgic about Futuron and early 90’s Space themes, anyway. Maybe I’ll check out the secondary market later.

Bit early for an April Fool’s joke Jay !
    This can’t be real ….

    • Julien says:

I saw it for real in a french Lego store. That’s absolutely cute. There will be a few stickers. Available one week AT the end of February. 200 euros spent to get it.

  7. art says:

this GWP look way better than the Buyable Space 2024 sets…..

Lego did it again – GWP great = theme sets bad

    • Fred B says:

I agree, the only two Space sets that I am interested in so far are the astronaut and Planet Earth and Moon in Orbit.

May be the NASA Lunar rover will be good

  8. DanK says:

They really know how to get me to let go of money don’t they?

  9. Absolutely! The Hong Kong LCS has images with the dates 19-25th Feb. Good news is that Dream World’s website says it’s $320 across all themes, not just space.
