LEGO 76232 The Hoopty from The Marvels revealed!

German retailer Lucky Bricks has given us our very first look at an upcoming tie-in set for The Marvels, the next Marvel blockbuster starring Brie Larson, Iman Vellani and Teyonah Parris which is set to hit theatres in November 2023.

76232 The Hoopty is an interesting name for this cool looking spaceship, which weighs in at 420-pieces and is set to be released on 1 October 2023. In the EU, it will be priced at €94.99 which seems like an exorbitant amount for what is a really small set with only 3 minifigures.

The price along I think dooms this to fail, and LEGO should be embarrassed for even thinking they could charge €94.99 / US$94.99 for this.

Three minifigures are included – Captain Marvel, Photon (from Wandavision), and Ms Marvel (from Ms Marvel), which assures that you’ll all 3 main characters from The Marvels.

The Hoopty looks decent, and I’m a big fan of that trans-orange canopy, which instantly makes me think about how great it’d be in a modern Ice Planet build, but I cannot stop thinking that LEGO is charging €94.99 for this.

Actual insanity, and I hope LEGO comes to their senses because no one is paying €94.99 for a 400+ piece spaceship.

Just to really put into perspective how whack the price is – here’s the sets you can buy within the 80-100 Euro range. Madness.

Thanks to Promobricks for the heads up on this.

This is the best lego marvel set ever! (no superhero theme, but women and cats!). 👩🏿👩🏼👩🏽🐈

The worst part is that it’s a cool little set. The 3 figs are nice (if lacking in printing on Carol and Monica), the built looks cute with plenty of inner space, its an interesting design…

It would be a great little set for £40-60…but what on earth are they smoking?! I genuinely cannot fathom how they came to that price point. 160 dollars Aus, 85 pounds British, its absurd.

They have, HAVE, to change the pricing on this before launch or they are looking at yet another marvel flop for 2023. The worst part beinf I can’t see anyone actually biting for less than a 50% off sale, and it’s extremely rare to see any lego set from any retailer drop that much.

In a year that has given us a decent amount of reasonably priced marvel sets, this could have been another win…instead unless they drop the price quickly, the only people getting this at launch will be the ambassadors that get it for free

Yeah, there’s a lot to like – the trans-orange canopy, lots of fun Flerkens, and not to mention all the main characters in a set.

This one is just so out of whack, that it doesn’t even register as Overpriced on the spectrum – it’s gone past that and is now in the “Delusional” end.

Even 50% is a little much, but diehard fans might bite at the price.

I’ve been wracking my head trying to figure out how this price got approved, and how connected they are to reality, especially when you add on another AU$10, and that gets you the No Way Home set.

Surely the price has to be a typo…

  4. Matthew Cruz says:

Introducing the next GWP for purchases over $150! Oh wait, sorry LEGO, you mean we have to actually pay $150 for this?!

  5. Warren says:

The Hoopty?! Lol I love the name. Here in the States, in the lower to middle class neighborhood I grew up in during the 80s, we called a “hoopty”, any drivable vehicle that looks extremely dilapidated and worn for wear. The price though on this set! I’d much rather get the Spider-Man Final Battle set for a few bucks more!

  6. Kevin says:

I got 43000 VIP points – wonder if I should use some to buy this set……..yeah, nuh!

  7. wi says:

    GOSH LEGO! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I want that set! But 150 AUD for that? Look at the quinjet! 20 AUD more and 300 pieces more!

  8. Jack says:

Ignoring the absurd price, this is kinda cool.
With all that interior space it reminds me of the first Milano, which is nice. As for the lifestyle image, I’m getting this weird Star Trek vibe from it. Is it because it looks a bit like a shuttlecraft? Or the use of grey curves with a splash of transparent orange and dark red? Either way, it somehow reminds me of the original star trek series.

Anyways, that price is crazy so there’s no way I’d even consider picking this up.
