LEGO Animal Crossing officially announced!

It’s FINALLY happened! LEGO have announced a brand new Nintendo theme with LEGO Animal Crossing coming soon!

UPDATE: LEGO have officially revealed the sets from LEGO Animal Crossing which will be out in March 2024!

LEGO Animal Crossing is based on the best-selling Nintendo game, Animal Crossing which sees players play as villagers that settle on a quaint island inhabited by anthropomorphic talking animals that you can befriend and run errands for to obtain currency (bells), furniture and clothing items.

A teaser page has appeared on LEGO.com, however we don’t have a firm release date yet, or any idea of the number of LEGO Animal Crossing sets we’ll get, although its safe to expect the sets to be released in early 2024.

These are the rumoured LEGO Animal Crossing set numbers.

  • 77046
  • 77047
  • 77048
  • 77049
  • 77050

In the teaser, we see a massive cast of well-known Animal Crossing characters. From left to right we have Rosie, Bunnie, Marshall (one of the most popular villagers), Kappa, Fauna, Julian, and the mayor, Isabelle as well as local entrepreneur Tom Nook.

As a player, you begin by being indebted to Tom Nook, and have to fish, collect fruit, and sell items to pay off your home loan, mirroring real life.

As a massive Animal Crossing fan, this is a dream come true for me, especially as I predicted way back in 2020 that we’d see a LEGO Animal Crossing theme, which would be an excellent spiritual successor to Fabuiland.

We don’t have a release date yet, but expect these to be released in 2024! I cannot wait to see what the sets look like, but the minifigures with their moulded head look excellent.

  6. YQ says:

    Boo! Bring back Fabuland!

  7. Loki says:

Let just call this theme “Fabuland at home”.

  8. HailStorm says:

    Fabuland 2.0 anyone?

  9. Reader says:

About time Lego and Nintendo capitalised on another of Nintendo’s IPs. Will be interesting to see if these sets include any AR play like the Super Mario theme, or if there’s any bonus functionality like amiibos.

Five sets rumoured? Guessing that’ll be the Town Hall + fountain, a villager house, port and Nook’s shop. No Blathers in the line-up, so we may not get a museum set yet. The theme lends itself well to expansion. Buy a base set for the village, then buy additional sets for buildings, locales and decoration.

    • Loki says:

Eh, they could have just saved the licensing fee and done Fabuland.

    • Jay Ong says:

Yeah the synergy between LEGO and Animal Crossing is unreal. So much room for expansion and creativity, whether you’re dressing the villagers up, creating furniture or even homes.

Nook’s Cranny is almost a given, as well as Town Hall. Hopefully there’ll be a good mix of sets.

  10. J0ker says:

Oh nice, now I have something to give to my sister for her birthday. Hopefully these drop Q1 or Q2 of 2024.

    Seriously?!
Personally I think this might be the dumbest “theme” LEGO has ever decided to do – and the first time I’ve thought a LEGO theme was really a waste.
I do not understand the appeal of Animal Crossing or why they would create a theme to a seemingly smaller clientele of adults only (I’ve never heard a kid say they like it or seen it within the total school-school age scene or maybe it’s just popular overseas?)
I will say the plus-side is that it’ll save me money for their good releases like Ideas and Modulars!

    • K says:

It’s actually an incredibly smart idea from LEGO.. Firstly, a lot of adults purchase LEGO, not just children. Secondly, Animal Crossing is a hugely popular game with 60
million downloads worldwide and very dedicated fans who will purchase anything Animal Crossing themed, likely to make LEGO a lot of money – potentially from adults who have never purchased LEGO before. Nice move LEGO.

    • A says:

Ummm, animal crossing is one of the best selling switch games world wide… where exactly are YOU from?

    • Hiebs says:

      You don’t understand the appeal…
      Now read that again.

    • Patrick says:

You’re so out of the loop here it’s kinda funny. This theme will be extremely popular.

    • Skeenque Huntt says:

“This does not appeal to me personally, therefore it should not exist”

    • MasterJ says:

      shut.

    • Navi says:

      Womp womp keep crying

    • Tasha says:

There are millions who play animal crossing world wide.. Of all age categories….

    • Animal Crossing Forever says:

I am so glad you found a silver lining to be your dislike of this set. Isn’t that the beauty of Lego, to appeal to a wide variety of people and ages. I hope the sets you enjoy next are wonderful and that no one calls what you like dumb. ✌️

    • Goose says:

Lame response. Lego is an idea that reaches multiple genres and ages. Be happy because this could lead to newer partnerships.

    • ……..$ says:

You’re just boring and dull, it’s a great idea. Super cute.

    • Big Train Bricks says:

My family loves ACNH and it is not the first time I have thouht a LEGO theme was a waste. I have a bunch of(In my opinien.)themes that were wastes. Recent Ninja-go waves, Hidden Side, The Simpsons, Cars Three, DC Super Hero Girls, Power Miners, and Elves. I will say that because Super Mario rumors have said that theme might retire in 2024 that this theme might be retired in 2028. Per say this theme is a cash grab because in some ways there is not much you can do for sets in this theme.

    • GURVINDER SINGH GANDU says:

Correct. This is a wasteful theme and the existing products are much better!

    • I don’t really like Star Wars or Football, but I’m not going to go straight out and call them dumb when there’s £££ to be made from people who like them. It’s just good business. These will sell, and they will sell well.

    • Barbara Saucier says:

I play animal crossing with my grandchildren who live out of state and they also play with their same age friends…we love animal crossing

    • Mr.E42_yes. says:

Not really, by looking at all these angry coments… id think your wrong…

    • Jay Ong says:

Animal Crossing New Horizons is the second best-selling game, on the third-best selling console of all time. It outsells Mario, and Legend of Zelda, and is only outsold by Mario Kart 8 which is a freak of nature title.

It also had wide demographic appeal, especially with women and young girls.

It has tremendous synergy with LEGO as creativity, building and customisation is at the heart of the game.

While it might not appeal to you, this theme will be instrumental in introducing so many new fans to the joy of building with LEGO.

  12. IJP says:

I’m a huge Animal Crossing fan and loved the idea of seeing it in Lego, so I decided to do it myself – https://rebrickable.com/mocs/?q=animal%20crossing%20iprice

The official mini-figs are intersting, but some are not quite right IMHO), and they haven’t necessarily chosen the best characters, but maybe we’ll see many more in the future. I think the mini articulated legs might have worked better. However, the characters aren’t the be-all and en-all of Animal Crossing – the world itself is also a thing to behold. I’m curious to see the houses, rocks, trees etc. that make up the AC world.

Could be a cracker. We’ll just have to wait and see.

  13. Jeremy says:

Send me more sweet Lego news.

  14. Evan says:

YESSSS THANK TOU FOR DELIVERING THIS AMAZING NEWS JAY I CAN ALWAYS ALWAYS COUNT ON YOU!

  15. Umali Morris says:

I’m glad I see Animal Crossing happening in Lego. Been a long time fan and I can’t wait to build Animal Crossing style houses in Lego. Especially recreating my houses in past games.
