LEGO Harry Potter 76429 Talking Sorting Hat comes with a sound brick!

German LEGO retailer ProShop.de has given us our very first look at 76429 Talking Sorting Hat, which is set to be released on 1 March 2024 alongside 6 other previously revealed sets.

Design-wise, this 561-piece set does look like a pretty good rendition of the Sorting Hat, the creepy magical hat that dooms new Hogwarts students into a predestined House, and confines them to specific personality traits like Smart, Courageous, Villainous or Average (Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff for you non Potterheads).

76429 Talking Sorting Hat will be priced at €79.00 (US price should be US$79.99) and has a 1 March 2024 release date.

What’s truly unique about the set is the inclusion of the LEGO Sound Brick, which has been noticeably absent from LEGO sets (although still available in Duplo form). The sound brick will play 31 random sounds, presumably scripts from the movie so you can actually place this on your head, and it might whisper your House or hurl insults at you from within the hat.

The set also includes an exclusive new Harry Potter minifigure, and I also like the presence of these printed house tiles!

It’s a little small, so not particularly life-sized, and yes, it does look like you’re wearing a long piece of poop on your head. I can’t wait to see the TikToks of this set.

The Sound Brick will likely inflate the price of this set as any electronic element always tends to be very expensive to produce, but kudos to the LEGO Harry Potter team for injecting some innovation into the theme.

Design-wise, this looks pretty good, and I can see this being relatively popular with LEGO Harry Potter fans.
