LEGO Super Mario, Nintendo Entertainment System, LEGO Art and other August 2020 releases now available!

It’s the 1st of August which means a whole slew of new LEGO sets are now on sale worldwide, including the most anticipated new theme of 2020 – LEGO Super Mario AND the incredible Nintendo Entertainment System set.

Here’s a quick rundown of what’s dropping today on LEGO.com!

LEGO 71374 Nintendo Entertainment System

This is in my opinion the most exciting set launching today, and I’ve raved about it in my first impressions post. The brick-built model of the beloved and iconic Nintendo Entertainment System and its compatibility with the LEGO Mariofigure is a great choice for adults who might be turned off by the kid-focused LEGO Super Mario, but still want their LEGO Nintendo itch scratched.

Read my thoughts on the LEGO NES.

LEGO Super Mario

The entire LEGO Super Mario theme is now available, and now we can officially include the Mushroom Kingdom in the LEGO Universe.

There’s an absolute ton of sets available and should be plenty of fun for kids and adult alike.

LEGO 21323 Ideas Grand Piano

The much-anticipated Ideas Grand Piano is also available worldwide, and is the largest LEGO Ideas set yet (by piece count), and should be a pretty interesting build that pays homage to the inner workings and engineering of an actual grand piano.

Want something a littler classier? LEGO’s new Art theme has you covered featuring brick-built puzzles portraits of Iron Man, The Beatles, Andy Warhol and Star Wars Sith.

I’ve written extensively about the theme here and I think they’ll be a surprise hit for LEGO.

LEGO Star Wars (August 2020)

A whole bunch of new LEGO Star Wars sets are also out, including the highly anticipated Mandalorian and Baby Yoda Brickheadz set, and the Razor Crest

In addition to these new marque releases, there is also a new wave of Monkie Kid and Technic 6×6 Volvo Articulated Loader also available.

Huge LEGO release day and I’m most excited about finally getting my hands on LEGO Super Mario, and the new Mandalorian sets.

Did you pick up anything today? Let me know what you bought in the comments!

Could you do a review on 71360 Adventures with Mario Starter Course? I really want to get it but my my mom is skeptical. If you could do a review on it that would be great.

    All,

Are any of you disappointed, angered, frustrated with the interference of the German Peace Society? I for sure am. They were the instigators for the Osprey (Which was supposed to be out) being discontinued. I did write a stern and appropriate mail to them, but appears they were too scared to return the favour.

I also wrote a mail to LEGO as well, asking them to stop bowing down to these fools, that set would of been great for Adults and kids alike to learn how flight and mechanics controls work, and it was going to be a rescue model, not military as lego denounce such items.

    Let me know your thoughts

The Razor Crest is not out yet. It’s a september release.

I’ve ordered the Lego Art The Beatles set for my Dad. I got him the Yellow Submarine a while back, so I hope this more grown up addition will be fun for him. I just remembered after buying that the set with Asoka might be available. However by 5am in Ireland, it was out of stock!

  5. Linda Vainomae says:

    Hi Jay,

Yes – a huge release day! I love to build vehicles – planes, trains, automobiles….and big articulated loaders ?. I thus could not resist the Volvo, which will a companion piece to the Zeux concept autonomous wheel loader.

    Cheers, Linda
