LEGO to launched supersized sets, beginning with Big Tim the Minion! [April Fools!]

It’s been a BIG day for LEGO reveals, but none as big as this one! LEGO have just announced a new range of Supersized sets, designed for expert builders who want to go bigger and better than LEGO Icons

According to LEGO, these commanding display pieces will take weeks to complete and take up more space in your home than is practical but they will be HUGE talking points when guests come round.

To learn more, check out LEGO’s Despicable Me landing page to learn more about Big Tim. There’s also a countdown to another BIG reveal two days away… I wonder what it could be!

For the first in this range, LEGO have announced 75533 Supersized Tim, (codenamed: Big Tim). Weighing in at a staggering 102,213 pieces, Big Tim stands over 2.5 metres (8.2 feet) tall, with a box that is also equally supersized.

Look at the size of the instructions manual!

See below for more images and the reveal video from LEGO.

This is of course not LEGO’s first foray into Minions, as we’ve had LEGO Minions sets previously, so this should be pretty well received if you have the space and budget!

Also, this seems like a fantastic yellow parts pack!

Can we have the inventory please? Would look great in my house, I am sure i could bricklink these parts…….eventually!!!!!

  2. Scully says:

lol. This would have cost $10,000 if we go by .10c per piece 😂

    • Håkan says:

Bigger sets containing a lot of basic, repeated parts would often be proportionally cheaper, so… maybe just $5,000 or so… A bargain!

  3. Dex says:

Yeah, I know what day it is.

There is a potential market for this kind of thing though. I could see it as a buildable display for stores. Imagine a toy store that has a Lego Minion in it.

Essentially, it would be similar to the large builds you see at Lego retail stores, but available for other stores to buy.

I doubt that they’d do brick by brick building though, unless it was through a digital app. They’d likely ship it in pieces, and the customer would do the final assembly.

    • Håkan says:

These designs would generally be glued, to avoid various mishaps…

(I remember one story where a a Chinese builder built a model of Nick Wilde from Zootopia, put it out unglued in a toy store, and some little kid nudged it down and had it shattered. As it seemed to be an accident, the builder stated that he was a bit sad, but not angry…)

  4. Pat says:

I’m embarrassed at how much of the article I read before I realized what day it is. I was legit like “100k+ pieces, how’s that going to translate to price and who will buy this?” Lolol

  5. Gimmie says:

This is Lego’s April Fool’s prank.

  6. anonymous says:

Yeah, lemme just can my apartment lease, move into a box on the street, and then pawn off all of my possessions in order to afford this monstrosity.
…At least the box will provide me with enough space to live in for the rest of my life. XD

  7. Ralph says:

    Get fucked

  8. Håkan says:

Strikes me as a very foolish business move!

  9. Shmorkie13 says:

Imagine if this were real! How much would it cost?

  10. Davin Cleary says:

A Perfect Reminder I Love Finding Oversized Objects Lego Sells

  11. Mark says:

I can see by the box render and the AI generated build of the set it’s a April fools joke 🤪

  12. SJ says:

    Aaaah…
So predictable. I could tell by the title!
But still funny, albeit a little scary; don’t give Lego any ideas

  13. Wendy says:

    April Fool’s!!!

  14. Jon says:

Spend all this time on an April Fools joke but still no time to review Avengers Tower…

    • Terrence Meyers says:

I know. I’ve been wondering what happened to the Avengers Tower review. He’s reviewed a bunch of sets since then.

      • Håkan says:

Granted, this is a repost of a Lego press release, so Jay’s actual work here would be minimal, compared to building and reviewing a large set of his own.

  15. Sarah Daly says:

    Great and its april 1st.

  16. Richard Dietz says:

That is one huge April fool day joke

  17. Nancy Brown says:

Lol! This was a great April Fool’s Day joke! Love it!😂

  18. flagstones says:

I don’t see why this should remain an April fool’s joke. I bet plenty would consider it!

  19. Jessica Malcolm says:

To quote Holly from “Red Dwarf” Queeg episode, “April, May, June, July and August fools”. 😀

  20. derek says:
