If you haven’t heard, Melbourne is getting our very own Legoland Discovery Centre at Chadstone Shopping Centre sometime in Autumn 2017. Construction is well underway for the indoor theme park and Merlin (the park owners) are looking for Melbournians and Australian LEGO fans to help shape one of its biggest attractions – Miniland!
Legoland Discovery Centre Melbourne is asking you to vote for your favourite Melbourne landmark that will feature in Miniland.
All you have to do is head on over to their Facebook page and cast your vote.
It’s pretty much a given that very “Melbourne” landmarks like the MCG and Flinders Street Station will feature in the Melbourne-themed Miniland, so you should vote for something much cooler.
What’s my vote? My vote is for my personal favourite landmark of the city – the State Library of Victoria. I really hope this one makes the cut as there’s nothing more Melbourne than laying on the lawns outside on a (rare) sunny day.
I have very fond memories of spending a lot of time on the lawns as a student reading and people watching. I’d also love to see the insides of the State Library brought to life – I think it sports one of Melbourne’s most stunning examples of indoor architecture and design.
Another really Melbourne thing that I’d like to see brought to life in Miniland is the Nylex Clock. Coming back from the airport, nothing reassures me that I’m home until the clock comes into sight.
So yeah, don’t forget to vote for your favourite Melbourne landmark before 30 November 2016! Let me know in the comments what you’d vote as Melbourne’s most iconic landmark!
Luna Park, St Kilda. I would love to see a massive scaled brick built version of this iconic Melbourne landmark with a beach scene in the foreground.
Yeah, I think Luna Park is pretty much a given. Same with the Brighton Beach houses!
