New LEGO Art 21226 Create Together also includes a Classic Space Astronaut portrait

Thanks to Amazon, we have our first look at a new LEGO Art set – 21226 Art Project Create Together – an open-ended 4138-piece LEGO art set that throws open the doors open for creativity and design.

True to its “Art Project” name, this set features instructions and designs for 36 mosaics, and you’re encouraged to create a 3×3 grid of these smaller designs.

The set is priced at £114.99, $119.99 or €119.99, matching previous Art set pricing, and according to Amazon, has a release date of 1 October, although Brickset reckons it should be available on the 1st of November.

Of if you’re a Classic Space tragic, you are also supplied instructions to create a larger White Classic Space Astronaut minifigure portrait – which I’m guessing will appeal to a lot of old timey Space fans!

This set looks like a heap of fun, and I’ve really enjoyed the LEGO Art theme (I really liked the World Map), and this seems like it will appeal to a wide swathe of people – whether you’re looking for more tiles, and want to use this as an Art expansion pack, OR if you’re like me and are simply drawn to the Classic Spaceman Portrait.

This set would be great if you can get it on a deep discount, hopefully following the trend of other LEGO Art sets!

I’ll be picking this one up for Christmas for sure, and I can absolutely see people creating a whole series of Classic Space minifigures, in all colours of the rainbow – which would be a sight to behold!

What do you think of the LEGO Art 21226 Create Together set? Will the Classic Space portrait finally convince you to give LEGO Art a go?

I always loved the concept of the lego art, just wasn’t into the designs they had, and was hoping for Benny and Unikitty, lego figs in general. So I look forward to getting this one for the spaceman.

I think this is exactly what the Art/Dots theme needed! The smaller mosaics make for an interesting piece and the fact that you can recreate the artwork different times really adds to it. I could definitely see myself mixing it up every few months… although realistically, it will always be the classic spaceman won’t it? Then again, It would be great to see a mosaic of 9 different spaceman faces.

I’ve always liked the idea of the art sets, and would love to get the thee Star Wars ones to combine into a large Darth Vader.

£115 is still a bit steep in my opinion, but I’ll definitely keep my eye out for it to be discounted.

    Still a pleasure to read.
I will buy this New one in two copies, for the Space man and to make a mix of small mosaics coming from the 4 différent pictures hoping there will be enough tiles.

I’m looking forward to this for the spaceman portrait. You’re missing the orange spaceman in your rainbow line up!
